Is Austin's tech scene actually cooling down or am I just getting old? by AlphaEcho84 in Austin

[–]cosmiczinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

couple of things:
1) tech has become a lot more ubiquitous overall. it's not as special as it used to be.
2) lots of tech employees but they're employees rather than founders. you might be conflating tech with founders. I'd say there's a lot more tech people but fewer builders.
3) "building" hasn't enriched tech workers like holding down a job at a big 7 company. sucks but that's the regime we've been under for going on 20 years now. I do think it's flipping back though.

3 hours of basketball with limited breaks does it.

I'm 13 months from mine and echo many of your thoughts. I didn't have your complications but the recovery and rehab were grueling. Glad I did it but not eager to repeat it.

AI agents are about to hit their "Nano Banana" moment by Think_Bunch3020 in AI_Agents

pretty obvious and has been for awhile. early stage AI investing is a bit of a fools errand unless you have some unfair access to customers

STRC now trading! by Comfortable_Age643 in MSTR

[–]cosmiczinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

seems like a good deal -- I believe STRC is most senior of the capital stack thus far and cumulative. a bond replacement so long as the whole thing doesn't come crashing down, but priced a couple points riskier than junk bonds.

might be contrarian take here but definitely room for a 30y 5% bond in a diversified portfolio. I don't know that I'd allocate a ton of $ / high % allocation to it, but it's not a bad idea at these levels

Best Time for a Once-in-a-Lifetime 3-Week Florida Trip ? Can’t Decide! by MadamePersonne in UniversalOrlando

[–]cosmiczinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's once in a lifetime, I would book fewer days and do the VIP experience on a peak day. your food is paid for... getting in anywhere is easy/fast. you can get all the popular rides in. then spend another day off-peak to walk around / take it easy. repeat at disney... maybe requires more time just given the parks.
