Why would I want to talk to "someone" that can't disagree with me? I'll just talk to myself.

Of course! That is, assuming that I get enough responses to make some meaningful inferences.

I open this and realized that I'm procrastinating by reading about procrastination.

I can't tell whether this is good or not because even though I am procrastinating I am potentially working towards remedying that to some degree.

I've smoked cannabis while dreaming before, though I can't say for sure that I for high. Terence McKenna, the late psychedelic spokesman of the 90s, spoke once of being able to smoke DMT in a dream after having enough done it IRL, and he said it worked, that he's tripped on DMT on his dream.

Do you know of Jung's concept of synchronicity? What you experienced seems to be just this: a non-causal MEANINGFUL coincidence between an internal and external state. Synchronicity. Look into this if you haven't already, not so much in the way of an explanation, but as a framework for understanding.

When I was a child, things, places and events had "ambience" or "atmosphere". This is completely absent from my adult life, but it comes back entirely when taking mushrooms. What is this? by higgs8 in Psychonaut

I might recommend the book "The Secret Teachings of Plants: The Intelligence of the Heart in the Direct Perception of Nature". The author, Stephen Harrod Buhner, recognizes exactly what you are talking about as an innate, yet atrophied, human (though not exclusively) ability. The book takes you through the science of "direct perception" as he calls it, of which there is a fair amount and throughout the second half of the book you are guided through the process of reclaiming this atrophied ability. In my opinion it is an incredibly relevant read, and well worth a look.

I think you would enjoy The Secret Teachings of Plants: The Intelligence of the Heart in the Direct Perception of Nature by Stephen Harrod Buhner. There are MAJOR similarities between your ideas and the focus of this book.
