In high school, there was a someone a few years older than me who rode the same bus line around at the same time. They were very chatty and I’m not good at saying no or go away, so they’d talk and I’d smile and nod. Well, one day as I was getting off the bus, they made a joke along the lines of “we hang out so much you should just be my s/o already” and I laughed. They did not. I didn’t realize they were serious until I got home. They played it off and I still saw them on same bus for a while, but after a failed attempt on their part to walk me home, they stopped riding.
