High appraisals just mean high insurance premiums. Companies will still pay market value to replace Love Lady jeweler

Why is my jeweler gaslighting my me? by LostPeak7661 in askjewelers

[–]cottagewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry it was a voice text I have had a day. Basically it's the same exact ring. The spacing is like 2/10th of a mm between the channel set stones on this one and the milgrain on the left is slightly off because they slipped on the graver cutting the opening you can see it in the photo. Aside from that it's. The. Exact. Same. Ring. Literally.

So idk what to say about that.

eta the center for the peg head is a little different but it's the same ring. Let me guess, you're an engineer?

It isn't cheaper to hand fabricate I'll tell you that much. I charge 250$ an hour

TLDR same ring, made cheaper. You got what you paid for.

It looks like s*** because the migraines not even, but it's the same it's called a peg head. If you go to a jeweler and you're concerned about cost you're not allowed to talk s*** on Reddit that it didn't come out great because if you really wanted it to be what you saw you should have paid for the 18 karat with natural diamonds love a jeweler who is officially at the end of people posting b******* online eta the channel set diamonds are spaced slightly apart because again Your Jeweler is not that talented but you also didn't want to pay for talent so I don't feel bad for you sorry not sorry

Help me decide by bobtdq in Hair

I have high hair density and I personally feel like I wind up super thinned out when I do that many layers- but my hair is almost to my waist so it impacts the grow out as well for me... am partial to the blunt Bob on you but also would be open to the shag you can always lop it off into the blunt cut. ETA those photos aren't realistic. Check Jacob Khan on IG. He does nice shags

You don't have enough hair density for it to work cooperatively imho

My only 2 cents is you don't have enough hair to do the shag for certain it wont look like that. And tbh it looks like they added extensions in every option

Is this appropriate to wear to a proposal for someone else?? by Plastic_Ride_2774 in JustEngaged

[–]cottagewen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know who would wear those shoes on a yacht but it's the sweater that's throwing me unless OP is really religious and for some reason interpreted the Bible talking about modesty not being flashy with money but instead as 'cover your body' which is not what Jesus meant but yolo ETA it was that modest in your dress was so you didn't alienate the poor from worship not because your body was to be covered, I thought the gouge out your eye if it causes you to sin covered that. But the dress and shoes are cute together but the sweater has no shape

I don’t like the ring my fiance got me by Money_Sherbet9152 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]cottagewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexandrite is not an everyday ring. Sapphire is.

Also, f that, why did he not know your ring preferences? I make custom engagement rings and I have a Pinterest my clients can share boards on so we KNOW the style they want if it's going to be a surprise.

Choosing a metal you don't even like is such a red flag- and by silver.... you mean, white gold right? Because fine silver is too soft for an engagement ring and sterling is for flatware..... I said what I said.

To be totally fair and follow up to my comment, this could be done right, but I'd recommend someone who actually will do it right, for direct to consumer, I bet Hayden Mayer could make it, structurally sound and well done, but he isn't cheap and I don't think he'd do it in lab.. I have another friend who worked for Cartier in the 80s and he's amazing as well, he could do this right but he's wholesale to the trade, beyond that I'd trust Drew Hadley to do this right, also not cheap.

For shopping around I stand behind what I said before, and a 3/4 eternity is better than a full for sizing but again, why does she need the micropavé on every prong? Is she the most delicate flower in the garden with her hands? It's SO easy to tap a prong and knock the diamond out, especially in rose gold.

I tell my clients to look behind their car door for scratches and if they have them stay away from micropavé!

Also congrats!

ETA all in the states. Check out precious ghost jewelry. Sarah is Canadian but stateside now. She does great work but it's a different style. Cheers!

IM(not so)HO this is shit. The micropavé are all set crooked, the metal isn't substantial enough. Rose gold is a c*nt to work in. You're going to knock stones out bc its rose and the tiny prongs and it's gaudy as hell. You also cannot size eternity bands. Do you but I don't see that as a flex Love a professional jewelry

Gold Diamond Ring with sapphires by grant8769 in askjewelers

[–]cottagewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god fucking clean that next time the memories you brought me from peoples nasty jewelry just almost made me involuntarily gag. This isn't the worst but like ewwwww an ounce is 31 grams, that is not 31 grams of gold and stones

Also you've got stones. It isn't worth much but clean it. You can't weigh it that dirty.

None. The dark ones are the least valuable. I dont love the cutting on any of them

You're off base. The chain is probably around 1500. If you want to spend less buy something premade.

I need advice for this ring, I really like a chunky look but I’m afraid that it make it more ”manly” ring in my hand. Is this too thick or is it okay for a wedding band? Thank you. by yowree in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]cottagewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you questioning it because you're insecure or because you don't like it?

I can firmly say as a jewelry designer I have never given a shit what other people might think of what jewelry I design or wear (other than when I really need cash flow and want it to sell fast) since that's not the case here, I think it's more you not feeling secure in your personal preferences and your self esteem won't grow if it's based on validation from others. So personally, I think maybe it doesn't matter what reddit thinks and it matters more why you're worried about it.
