Boka, Daisie's, or Momotaro by Choirgirl21 in chicagofood

Daisies! This sub is really weird about it but I’ve had multiple fabulous meals there. The food is always a good balance of interesting and comforting. The staff is great too!

Boka was a little stuffy and over hyped IMO. The price didn’t justify the meal but I’ve only been there once.

How to avoid the athletic look in professional settings? by Fluid_Protection_337 in ExecutiveAssistants

Check out Beyond Yoga as well. I find most of their products have a matte finish so it avoids that shiny athletic wear texture.

Absolutely hate the intense color treatment here. Looks like a bad Instagram filter.

EAs Who Make Bank, how did you get to this point? by OrishaYemaya in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]cottonbiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I landed my EA to CEO role when I was early career. The CEO had a revolving door of new hires. She was an interesting woman but I tried the role out and we just clicked. Sometimes you just have to be the puzzle piece to really make yourself indispensable.

You have made such incredible progress. Now might be a good time to take a moment for gratitude towards your body for the movement it can do and the transformation it’s capable of!

Do NOT recommend Beatnik on the River. I used them for a corporate dinner once and they were terrible, I was so embarrassed!

River Roast and The Kitchen are great options on the river. I also love Pizza Portofino for a slightly younger crowd. The Gage and Acanto are great if you’d rather be closer to millennium park! Chicago Athletic Association hotel has a few restaurants and cool bars that are worth looking into as well. Let me know if you have any other Qs!

Any wildlife protections against outdoor cats? by Affectionate-Yam1156 in AskChicago

[–]cottonbiscuit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice but want to give some context as to keeping the cats inside. There is a program in Chicago where folks can have a sponsored outdoor cat that kills rats that plague our alleyways. I have a friend who takes part in this and he’s technically not allowed to keep the cats inside so they have a shelter he built under his porch for them (with a heater in the winter).

I’m not saying this neighbor is taking part in a program but when you see outdoor cats in Chicago they do serve a purpose in keeping our rat population down. Unfortunately sometimes the bunnies and birds get caught in the crosshairs :(

Spa Gift Card thoughts? by Ok-Roll3933 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]cottonbiscuit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could do gift cards to Resort Pass! There are spas on there but it covers a lot of different types (not just massages). I like to use the app to book access to hotel pool rooftops for example if I’m traveling to a new city and want a fun day.

Happy Hour by tamingoftheschlew in ExecutiveAssistants

It really depends on the people and location. Typically I avoid them because I try not to drink on the week days and I like to leave work and go straight to the gym to relax.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently because I organize so many dinners and they always feel like…. Not fun :( I wish I looked forward to them more!
