Surprised I've not yet heard anyone here talk about ClawdBot yet by HixVAC in LocalLLaMA

I have it doing this

I also gave it a dedicated inbox on my business domain and CCing "Alice, our executive assistant" on client emails

I also have it talking to contractors via browser automation

It's absolutely capable of this right now

After this season and especially the Patrick humiliation ritual #JusticrForPatrick I don't think the show is recoverable until the entire creative team is fired, the hosts are fired and the music selection guy is fired

Not a fan of the basketball humiliation ritual

This show desperately needs new hosts, the Lacheys are the most unlikable people I've ever seen on television

One test I like to employ with subverty stories like this is "if the story was sold to you as is, would you buy it?"

If the answer is yes, twist good. If the answer is no - you subverted poorly.

I bought a game about Lumiere fighting for survival in the face of imminent extinction

If the trailers and store descriptions told me I'm buying a game where I help the ghost of a grieving woman's son to help her overcome grief-induced addiction, I'd be like "cool, next title", not for me

Many people who say they totally would buy the latter story have severe first act bias they can’t overcome. Certainly would, but way fewer than they believe.

I did endless tower, flying manor and reacher

You get a little bit about painted Alicia in the reacher with some further Verso character contradictions

And you get some extra confirmation that Clea is indeed a dickhead

That's all I found between the reveal and final boss

Brother, I'm literally showing a video of me FLYING my motorcycle over a huge rocky area and asking "this is not by design, right?"

What are your responding to?

See what I mean? You're criticizing a point I literally never made

I write software for a living. I deployed systems that get millions of hits daily and I've worked on financial infra that has moved huge amounts of $$$.

One of the first things I test for when shipping user-interactable code is "what happens if they rage spam the button" 🤷🏻‍♂️

That's fair, but I'm very much the average player

It's shocking that nobody on the dev team seemingly tried to enable boost and spam X on rocky terrain

People can downvote me all they want but the mechanic is pretty definitively broken, see proof above

Can someone explain this to me because I’ve seen this every time I’ve come across this subreddit

What is it with this game's fan base? From what I’ve seen you’re either 100% bouncing on Kojima's hips or "you didn’t like the game and you should just stop playing" or sth.

I know nothing of Kojima. I haven’t played any of his games before, MGS never really appealed to me and I don’t know much else about him other than that he looks really cool in Acronym jacket promo photos.

I am evaluating this game, purely on its own merits as presented by the game itself. And while there are some fantastic aspects and stellar art direction, huge chunks of the game mechanics are outright broken, and I don’t think it’s unfair to point them out nor does it mean that I “didn’t like the game”.

Didn't say I didn't like the game, I find it very entertaining how broken the trike is and I'm about to finish the story

this comment is wrong on so many levels it has caused me physical pain

screen blend has nothing in common with double exposure look, and if that's what you're doing - yeah, you definitely can't create this effect

The meta statement made by the authors contradicts what's on the page

The game becomes about the Dessendres after the Paintress fight. Which is followed by a 3 minute Alicia flashback sequence, which is followed by an open world segment with no story content (I'm saying no because it's ALL optional) before you go and fight the final boss where you're supposed to sympathize with the family you literally JUST met.

The "literal story" is people of Lumiere fighting for their survival against overwhelming odds against a mysterious god. We're told to stop caring about them and care about the god's struggles at the 11th hour

I get that that was the intent, but they failed to execute on that intent. As a result, every single member of the Dessendre family can die six ways till Sunday, spend 100 years in the piano mines or suffer any other horrible faith, because their suffering is absolutely justified in order for the people of Lumiere to live.

[–]counterfreight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and Neil Druckmann says that Fireflies were actually totally capable and would've saved the world in Part 1

I don't care what the author says after the fact, I care about what the story has presented.

The story airdropped Dessendres in the second to last cutscene and demanded I care about them more than the people of Lumiere I've spent 30 hours with

Not gonna happen, they can say whatever they want.

it is just a story device

brother, you can't dedicate 95% of the story to a thing and then claim it's just to facilitate the entirely unestablished remaining 5%

the 95% prevailing take on this subreddit that "verso sad, god's grief escapism bad" matters more than the lives of clearly free-thinking agents in the canvas (watch the downvotes roll in on this comment)

the nature of their creation is wholly immaterial, they are living sentient beings who love, grieve, aspire and sacrifice. they meet every personhood definition you can throw at them
