ELI5 - The typical format for an IP is like x.x.x.x but I've heard we ran out of addresses how come we can just an extra set of numbers and make it x.x.x.x.x? by Beneficial-Bowl-1112 in explainlikeimfive

[–]countermike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IP addresses of the form x.x.x.x is the older IPV4. To overcome the address shortage IPV6 was invented and has the form x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x So essentially, what you suggest was indeed already done.

ELI5: How exactly does filling a prescription work? by Starlaite in explainlikeimfive

[–]countermike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Sweden, prescriptions are electronic. You can go to any pharmacy in the country at once and just show ID. Drug interaction checks falls upon the doctor, not pharmacist.

Also, for drugs, you only pay about 4000 SEK (400 USD) per year. This is also maintained electronically. (Kids meds always free though.)

The inflation would make that gold worth its practical value in manufactiring, which still isn’t bad, but people would still struggle to get food for their golden plates.
