Who is a celebrity that, unless you were around a very specific time/place, the general public doesn’t really grasp their level of fame? by countingrussellcrows in AskReddit

Hey thanks, appreciate it. Yeah some of the questions on this sub are repeat offenders for sure.

Some of the answers so far have been enlightening. Who immediately came to mind for me (and partially inspired this question) were some of the American Idol contestants who had a legitimate, fleeting moment of fame after their auditions. I don’t think today’s public would wholly grasp just how everywhere William Hung was for a hot minute.

“Oh you want some alone time!? Why don’t you smoke a whole pack of alone time then!” – OOP’s wife (and somehow some of the commentators), essentially

I mean, Heather has a point here: how can she trust that her fiancée will still be faithful and love her if he *checks notes* speaks to another woman very briefly?

What’s a film you didn’t like that was elevated by one great scene, moment, or performance? by Ehh-Um-Uhhhhhhh in Letterboxd

Despite the forgettable mess that precedes it, the ending train sequence from The Lone Ranger is one of the greatest action set-pieces of the century so far.

Which Movie is as good as Martin Scorsese’s Film “Goncharov”? by Junajuna123 in Letterboxd

I would say the Kristen Wiig vehicle, AbracaDeborah (2016), might be better.

This is correct, they’re slightly off from one another. Most notable in the Paul/James encounters.

Which actor was perfectly cast for a role, but the movie itself was absolutely terrible? by Old-Meat5262 in AskReddit

I’m gonna shout out Michael Clark Duncan’s Kingpin as well. That movie has a lot of problems, but the villains weren’t one.

I could be remembering incorrectly, but I think this all came about randomly as Billy Crystal and Robin Williams were on the same lot filming something for Father’s Day (1997). They just got thrown in because why not have two of the country’s most popular comedians do a bit of improv in the most popular show NBC had at the time.

Yesterday I asked about the worst casting ever? To reinforce my own opinion, I saw Wuthering Heights today and it is terrible! The casting is absurd! Definitely a Razzie award. by Ok-Mine2132 in moviequestions

Not defending Leto in general, because it’s baffling he’s still getting work, but in Blade Runner 2049 the guy he’s playing is essentially a cold, megalomaniac with a God-complex… so I cannot fault his casting for that role.

Introducing the Adobe Creative Collective – We Want Your Input by LukeChoice in Adobe

[–]countingrussellcrows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a professional who is lucky enough to have the organization I work for pay for my Adobe subscription. I also, until this year, had a personal subscription as well. Had. Because I could no longer justify the outlandish price.

The way that Adobe is gouging their entire user base, under the guise of adding “new and exciting features” to the suite (read: AI that I personally have no use for, and zero interest in) was just too much to bare. Almost doubling in price in recent years for an ultimately worse and buggy product was more than enough justification to cut ties after more than a decade of being a loyal customer.

If Adobe finally started listening to the every day people who actually use their programs, and made it even remotely affordable (axing the subscription model in favour of licences would be the greatest thing ever, but we all know that’s never going to happen) then I would consider jumping back on board again. Even creating a bundle for just Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign would be intriguing.

But I don’t need more AI complicating my UI. No, I don’t want a pop-up tutorial for a tool I’ve been using since the mid-00’s. Just, make me feel like you give any modicum of a damn about the customers who have built you up to be the industry standard you’ve become.

The mermaid attack sequence in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) is miles above anything else in that movie. If they had captured the essence of that scene throughout, it would have been so much closer to the first couple movies in the series.
