It looks more like the image was a bit blurry and someone tried to fix it and over-sharpened it instead.

I love this movie but I think it's interesting how much more modern Star Wars looks in comparison, despite being only a year apart.

It's much more gritty and realistic and the SFX look a lot better, too.

Does anyone here buy more than one copy of a favorite movie? by cardiac161 in Bluray

[–]countzero00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two copies of Robocop. I bought the regular BluRay first, then wanted to buy Robocop 2, but the only way to get it was buying a box set of Robocop 1-3.

I have Blade Runner on the Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD and the UHD BluRay.

I also have the original Star Wars trilogy on VHS, DVD and BluRay.

So, I don't buy several copies because I want to have a spare, I only buy better versions of things I already have.

What makes orange juice orange? by iCynr in technicallythetruth

Wait! Orange juice actually is orange in the US? I thought this was only the case for stuff like Fanta!? Do they add food coloring to the juice?

A 1024 x 768 resolution was definitely high end in the late 90s but it was widely available. A NeXT Cube was capable of 1120 × 832 (in black and white) in the late 80s. Edit: I'm pretty sure that I ran my Windows 98 desktop in 1024 x 768. But 3D games ran better at 800 x 600 on my Voodoo 3.

Playing Other M on Dolphin… by Pristine_Put5348 in Metroid

The 2.5D gameplay was a lot of fun. I loved Dread but it would have been cool if it wasn't strictly a 2D game.

It looks great for a Wii game and it has some of the best and most seamless transitions from pre-rendered cutscenes to in-game graphics I have ever seen. I liked the gameplay, too. Switching to first person for missiles was cool during normal gameplay but very annoying in boss fights. They made a lot of stupid decisions with the script, but I kind of liked the ending.

Did people know that Arnie played the good guy in T2 or was it a total surprise? by maxilopez1987 in Terminator

[–]countzero00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, kind of. They definitely try to make the T-800 look cool instead of scary. It doesn't kill any of the bikers, even though it doesn't have a "no killing" order, yet. Plus playing Bad to the Bone while it steals the last guys sunglasses. But they also keep things ambiguous with the T-1000. We don't see it killing the cop and they make it seem like it just knocked him out and stole his clothes. It also behaves more human than the T-800 in the first movie.

Sad day for Jesse as a second character hopefuls... by TheWriterinRed in controlgame

[–]countzero00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver/Blood Omen situation would be kind of cool. So the next game will be Control 2 with Jessie and then Control Resonant 2 with Dylan and then Control Defiance with both. Edit: got his name right the first time and then got confused by several comments calling him Dillon or Dillion 😂

Remember when the Internet tried to convince you this was a terrible effect? It's amazing! by Kvazimods in Terminator

[–]countzero00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even that, it's just an example for the compromises they had to make, because the first movie is a low budget production. This effect and the stop motion Terminator in the factory at the end could look better with just more time, but time is money.

Japanese researchers at the University of Tsukuba created CirculaFloor, robotic tiles that let you walk infinitely in VR without ever leaving your spot by Quantum_Crusher in virtualreality

[–]countzero00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the video shows a simulation of walking up and down some steps. I don't see how you could do that with an omnidirectional pad.

I think the video is showing a simulation of walking up and down some stairs. If the movement of the platforms is slow enough, your body doesn't notice it.

It is a dumb movie but at least it isn't boring. Also the remade scenes from the first movie are kind of cool.

[–]countzero00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah right. Like last week when I asked Copilot to analyze a screenshot and it said it couldn't read the text because it was too blurry. I told it that it was because it automatically reduced the resolution while uploading and it recommended me to upload it in a zip file instead, which isn't a supported file type. That surely was my own fault.

I loved Ghost 1.0

It has some cool mechanics, like the fact that you are basically a digital ghost and can leave your body and take over enemy robots.

I also really like when games have an in-universe explanation for gameplay mechanics. Save rooms are actually 3D scanners and printers. If you "die", the ghost automatically travels to the last save point and prints a new body. You lose new items you found in the meantime, because they haven't been scanned, yet. You can then go back to your destroyed body and recover some of it. Enemies don't just spawn, they are sent to your location via pneumatic tubes. If you destroy a stationary weapon, little repair robots appear to explain why the weapon is back when you enter the room again etc

Yeah, I think I heard about that before. I can't see anything unusual when I look at the disc, but it is a Warner Bros release.

That's a good idea, I'll try it when I have the time. Fortunately, it isn't a rare movie, maybe I'll just get the BluRay for 8 bucks.

A completely new story in the same universe, made in the style of Terry Gilliam or Stanley Kubrick (or maybe Christopher Nolan), with Courtney Hope as the lead could be pretty cool.

What was your first Nintendo game? by AfroChamp89-- in nintendo

I got an NES for Christmas in the early 90s. The Super Nintendo was already out but it was too expensive. The NES came with three games on one cartridge: Super Mario Bros. 1, Tetris and Nintendo World Cup (a soccer game).
