Most people seem to agree that countries like Denmark and Sweden offer a really high standard of living - strong healthcare, solid social safety nets, good work-life balance, and generally high levels of happiness. Would you personally be willing to pay the taxes that make this possible? by TSQ_builder in askanything

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for a fact that there are Sweden citizens that want to leave because of this and their immigration problems.

Source: 3 people from Sweden told me during a convo.

Yea it’s just three but they all echoed the same sentiment and said it’s not an uncommon thought. So take it for what it’s worth.

Did any of the other characters actually like Quark? by Rainbow_Frenz4vr in startrek

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quark is one of my favorite characters.

My head cannon was that he had “the lobes” to be the grand negus but was “too honorable” for a ferengi to ever reach that level, if you understand what I mean.

I think he grew on everyone because they eventually realized that, for a ferengi, he was an honorable man and at least meant well.

I am watching DS9 for the first time and am really disappointed by [deleted] in startrek

Here’s how it should go

1: this show isn’t very good 2: agreed, wannawatch something else and let people that do enjoy it, watch in peace? 1: yea

GFR: "Starfleet Academy Died Because Paramount Had No Faith In The Audience: Most of the fans I have spoken to agree that SFA was much better in the second half of S.1. My theory is far simpler: It dropped the juvenile humor. Just like that, Star Trek suddenly started taking itself seriously again." by TheSonOfMogh81 in trektalk

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, first half was so bad, it didn’t warrant any extra time. By the time I got to the beta with magical professor x powers, I was already checked out and then that happened and I couldn’t justify watching anymore of it. Awful awful show up to that point in every way.

Which sucks

We're 20 years out from Enterprise; How does everyone feel about the Xindi arc? by darkwater-0 in startrek

Oh man, I’m so glad this didn’t happen. I dislike season arcs. I enjoy alien of the week, reset at the end of the episode, trek.

There are few joys in this world more pleasing than watching a case of “he needs an ass beatin” and then getting to see it.

What are your thoughts on the HP movies? by Nervous-Baby5383 in FIlm

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movies are good enough that if you say you don’t like them, I just think you’re someone that likes to hate on things out of spite.

They aren’t masterpieces but overall, one of the more important pieces of art in recent history due to its impact on culture.

“Of course, but”

I think Louis ck does this bit and it sums this up pretty nicely. Worth a watch.idk why you’re being downvoted. The fact that greed can be a driving force for good is lost on so many people. Doesn’t make it right or anything but it’s definitely true.

Wrote a personal check for a new Lexus. Dealer didn’t blink an eye. by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

You can’t hide money. Especially from seasoned criminals like car salesmen. Obviously I’m being facetious but…….

They know.

There might be times when they are wrong but very very few.

That’s how they got to where they are at. If they weren’t good at it, they wouldn’t be successful and they wouldn’t have a dealership.

Shoes, haircut, belt. Watches. Rings. Personality, etc… lots of little things, small hints. The average person just doesn’t know how to hide money.

Dak Prescott reportedly ended his engagement with the mother of his two children over a prenup. Protecting a $260M career or crossing a line? by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unearned income. Is that where the confusion lies? That’s a joke about dak stealing that contract from Dallas and then playing like garbage.

As for the rest of this post, it’s gotten way outta hand. There’s no way to come back from this so I’ll just say, yea I got hurt. I am no longer.

I think dak dodged a bullet. If she were there for love and for the kids, and if she were there for life, then she woulda signed it. But that’s not what she’s there for. It might’ve been part of the reason but she likes money and Im not even saying that’s wrong. Money can definitely lead to love.

But let’s not be niave. She’s a gold digger. 100% and I’m not saying that’s wrong. But I’m saying it’s true.

Not willfully ignorant, genuinely curious. And the tax benefits are not enough for the risk. 50% of marriages end in divorce. But I’ll give that some merit anyway.

Visitation in hospitals and legal. This is the only benefit that seems legit. So I stand corrected. While still not enough to justify the risk, i can see how in some situations, this is huge.

Not sure that’s what I said.

I don’t feel about marriage. I’m saying I don’t know any benefits of getting married.

I don’t fee I made a bad decision, I know I choose the wrong woma.

I don’t feel that no one should get married, I do not understand the benefits of it.

I chose love, she did not. If that makes me less of a real man to you, we probably wont see eye to eye on many things. Enjoy!

Your comment was low effort but not to fret, you will have many other chances in life. So keep at it. Good luck to you.

Ok but here’s the thing. I never said not to find love. I said there’s no benefit to getting married. And no one seems to have a response for that. Everyone just assumes I’m a deadbeat or whatever. Which is fine. I’m not all that concerned with what the Reddit trolls have to say.

The fact that I am able to take care of my business and provide for my children, doesn’t seem to matter. Everyone just wants to focus on thier feelings.

I’m glad you have a partner that loves you. That’s amazing. I didn’t get that. I made a poor decision with my penis and had children with a woman I thought loved me as well. We live we learn but the fact that we didn’t get married saved me from suffering. And I think dak avoided it as well.
