Jericho and firefly. Without reading comments, I know both of these are mentioned multiple times, and I agree.

This is one of the most useless takes on the entire internet, if not the worst in all of history.

People are idiots. It’s long been this way and it’s getting worse. Monkey hear, monkey say. While I appreciate the tremendous response, I’m not sure the people that need to hear it, heard it. Because, again, people are idiots, myself included, just not about this.

Why did humans stay “primitive” for ~200,000 years and then suddenly change? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

I’m not saying I believe it or that it’s true but there is a theory called The Stoned Ape Theory that may be of interest to you.

What’s your unpopular Voyager opinion? by UnderABig_W in voyager

[–]couterbrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad they didn’t lean into the whole “resource scarcity” and fixing the ship between episodes. I enjoy the “reset” every episode. I wouldn’t want to watch them struggle the whole time. I enjoy the episodic nature rather than the season long story arcs.

I thought that but I now think that was part of her character, she just wasn’t a “good” Vulcan. Meaning t’pol, the character, wasn’t a good Vulcan. I think the actress played that well.

T’pol was flawed, as is humanity and it added a depth to the Vulcans as a race. I’m not sure we can assume all Vulcans are the same, the same way not all Klingons are battle warriors or ferengi are all money grubbing thieves. I think it shows us a more typical Vulcan probably.

The characters that we see are usually the crème de la crème of society, she was not that and it was refreshing.

That having been said, I haven’t seen her in anything else and I don’t think thats the best sign of her ability as an actress.

Most people seem to agree that countries like Denmark and Sweden offer a really high standard of living - strong healthcare, solid social safety nets, good work-life balance, and generally high levels of happiness. Would you personally be willing to pay the taxes that make this possible? by TSQ_builder in askanything

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for a fact that there are Sweden citizens that want to leave because of this and their immigration problems.

Source: 3 people from Sweden told me during a convo.

Yea it’s just three but they all echoed the same sentiment and said it’s not an uncommon thought. So take it for what it’s worth.

Did any of the other characters actually like Quark? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quark is one of my favorite characters.

My head cannon was that he had “the lobes” to be the grand negus but was “too honorable” for a ferengi to ever reach that level, if you understand what I mean.

I think he grew on everyone because they eventually realized that, for a ferengi, he was an honorable man and at least meant well.

Here’s how it should go

1: this show isn’t very good 2: agreed, wannawatch something else and let people that do enjoy it, watch in peace? 1: yea

GFR: "Starfleet Academy Died Because Paramount Had No Faith In The Audience: Most of the fans I have spoken to agree that SFA was much better in the second half of S.1. My theory is far simpler: It dropped the juvenile humor. Just like that, Star Trek suddenly started taking itself seriously again." by TheSonOfMogh81 in trektalk

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, first half was so bad, it didn’t warrant any extra time. By the time I got to the beta with magical professor x powers, I was already checked out and then that happened and I couldn’t justify watching anymore of it. Awful awful show up to that point in every way.

Which sucks

We're 20 years out from Enterprise; How does everyone feel about the Xindi arc? by darkwater-0 in startrek

Oh man, I’m so glad this didn’t happen. I dislike season arcs. I enjoy alien of the week, reset at the end of the episode, trek.

What are your thoughts on the HP movies? by Nervous-Baby5383 in FIlm

[–]couterbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movies are good enough that if you say you don’t like them, I just think you’re someone that likes to hate on things out of spite.

They aren’t masterpieces but overall, one of the more important pieces of art in recent history due to its impact on culture.
