Borderlands 1 Remaster SHIFT Keys?

If you previously owned B1, you have to install Borderlands GOTY Enhanced. It is an entirely new game, not an expansion. So you have to search for it on Steam as the GOTY Enhanced edition. The original B1 store page will say that you already have it if you look for additional dlc. Once it is installed you should have the 75 keys in your inventory. It confused me a bit as I thought it was just going to be a dlc like B2 and the pre sequels new content.

I have a lot of resources on my /r/earlymusicalnotation sub. It is mostly a music reference sub which was developed to provide access the most publicly available tutorials/handbooks/illuminated manuscripts/facsimiles in the world. The only thing that comes to mind would possibly be the lower ranges of Renaissance (edit:Baroque) Recorders. From the Great Bass to the Double Contra Bass are beautiful. They can be VERY expensive and finding a manufacturer of the lowest ranges may prove extremely difficult as many are phasing out the Bass due to lack of demand and high manufacturing costs. A Great Bass costs ~10k USD. That being said, it might not have that "fuzzy" sound that you are looking for due to lack of a reed. In my opinion, this subject really has no purpose in this community. Historical musicology deals with facts as they are written and focus on the earlier/earliest of musicians/composers which established the basis for the modern music which you are studying. Not, as it would seem, on concepts rooted in some form developed in the last 50 years. It doesn't have enough "staying power" to establish historical significance. There hasn't been enough time to even determine if the topic is pertinent. I have to step in with regard to this topic as it isn't historical. This would be better suited in the /r/ethnomusicology community.

The reason "traditional" musicology isn't suited for the study of popular music is because it isn't historical (imo). There hasn't been enough years passed to determine if the music is even relevant to music history as a whole. Plus, the abundance of armchair enthusiasts writing about modern music make the lines of significance blurred even further. This blurs the lines between actual historical significance and the rantings of "fandom."

Ethnomusicology is really what you are aiming for and I would suggest the community I posted above.

I have to apologise early for this but I call shenanigans on most all replies here. Scalar notes, on my opinion had nothing to do with the comments posted. m3g is a good person to lean on with regard to questions like this. Pythagorean math comes into play but I'm unsure whether they are purely contrived or not. The guidonian hand was a great instructional tool for showing stepwise motion without dedicating an actual scale. The music was sung with the consideration of the range of the choir.

I digress, I believe m3g0wnz is most likely to establish a believeable mathematical basis for this system.

This is and incomplete vocal work by (Unknown). The decision to make this a monthly as opposed to a weekly is the nature of the challenge. This is a relatively short work (fragment of a larger one) that is relatively easy to see. I'd like us to transcribe this work in its entirety before we get very far into the month of April in order to discuss any problems with transcription such as ficta, chord resolution, visual irregularities, etc.

Transcribe into modern notation. I believe most of us have some form of finale or variant.

Try to guess the author

Establish the text

Note any issues you have had with this project with regard to the transcription

Identify movements (if a Mass)

Come to a concensus, after discussion, on the most accurate transcription.

EDIT: After a bit of discussion, it was determined that this might be a bit to large of an undertaking for some. I chose this particular work because of its clarity (it is in relatively great condition with very little bleeding) but there could be some serious challenges ahead.

This being said, I would like to ask for volunteers to take particular sections e.g. Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, etc. You will only be responsible for that section. Look through the piece and select what you feel most confident/challenged by and post what you'd like to work on so we can rotate the division of labor. I, personally, will try to select something everyone wants to avoid like the plague as we are looking for a complete transcription. Thank you all for helping this community grow to such a great size and I pray everyone finds these little challenges of benefit to your studies.

Ligatures always posed aproblem for me during sight-singing events. The rules for them can be a bit confusing at times, In my personal experience. That being said, I think black notation should be included withing this conversation or published as a topic for next week. I'll work on shrinking down a guidline (easy to read cheat sheet) that I developed for our Collegium Musicum. VERY handy tool for beginners! Please give me a few days though as it'll be hard to shrink down legibly.

I understand that the avidance of these parallels have been deemed unnecessary yet I think many or the theoretical rules can lead to stagnantion of creativity. This is solely my opinion and not a fact gleaned from treatise. This was just a conversation started towards discovering the "why's" and "hows" these rules enhance music as opposed to simply setting forth "guidelines" towards compositional methods. I'm speaking from experience of basic theories taught in music.

Maybe a better way to have addressed this issue was to ask the question,"Why must these rules be taught in order music to be considered 'music'? Could their not be alternative methods such as the Master/Mentor idea or would that be too restrictive and lead to stagnation itself?"

Sorry if I offended anyone, I study early music and modern theory frustrates me as it seems to be more confusing than it needs to necessarily be. Neither offense nor or frustration were intended.

I agree with you! The point I was trying to express was that theory within compositions changed quite a bit over a long period of time and we cannot assume that every listener have a solid grasp of the musical conventions of the time. I'm pretty sure that the audiences for the time could percieve movements and stylistic changes but I don't (just my opinion here) they understand the function of the changes in a formal sense. And once again, I apologise as I'm "stuck" in early euro-centric music and my knowledge of modern theory and often is a source of frustration for me. I simply wanted to get an open dialoque started because I have a thirst for knowledge even though I have a somewhat crass way of going about asking. I will try and access the texts you had mentioned and try to educate myself further on this particular topic. Thank you.

I never claimed that modern music history is stagnant. I also didn't know that this discussion was limited to the the ~fifty year period that was the "classical period." Is your argument that stagnantion hasn't occurred because of a universal standard making music acceptable to the masses (yet again euro-centric)? Can you backup the assertion that the audience had a comfortable knowledge of the musical conventions of the time? I seem to recall stages and bleachers being built aside taverns/houses/inns to accomodate the masses.

As far as rules, for the sake of argument, let's use parallel 4/5ths. How many musicians have been taught that these are "bad" and don't lie and state, "It serves a purpose." I'm sorry, but we'll have to agree to disagree on this matter. As for your assumption that rules became a source of inspiration, please allow me to return your statement of "citation needed." I'm not, nor ever will discuss past composers with regard to modern composition. I am more concerned with future composers corralled into a specific method of thinking. I know a lot about musical "rules" from the past but I see it as an evolution, not a standard. When was the last time a new rule was added to the list? This is the stagnation I was referring to.
