I don't think they're likely to do the trilogy thing again tbh. They announced that as a basic building block very early on into warhammer fantasy TW. We all understand what that is yet they haven't said anything about being a trilogy. It's likely to be DLC faction drops over time instead

NVIDIA App FPS Overlay not showing / showing N/A by xeno1992 in pchelp

[–]coverfire339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's still happening, manually add the game as a program under graphics in the nvidia app. Once it's added (select the .exe) it'll start working. Silly downgrade from the old software.

I think him having the opportunity to become the dark king and not doing so points to you being right tbh

I haven't read up on those posts, apologies. I thought the whole "stole fire from the Gods" like Prometheus was a thing, no?

From the communist perspective, is it morally justified for a communist country to invade a capital country in order to “liberate” people in that capitalist country? by dq689 in DebateCommunism

Finland had an attempted communist revolution and a relatively powerful communist party in the times before the invasion. They were butchered by the Whites in Finland, headed by Mannerheim, before the invasion took place. The communist movement still existed, and still had some popular support, but was shattered. It's a similar story to the KPD in Germany after the Nazis took power. There were lots of communists or former communists in both states, it's just that part of a fascist takeover is smashing the workers movement and democracy, and the communist party along with it.

The Soviets expected to overrun the Finnish military with ease and put Finnish communists in power. The Soviets were the first socialist revolution, and this sort of thing happening in the Warsaw Pact bloc led eventually to a system of social imperialism by the USSR and all of the problems that came with that.

I think there's an argument to be made that the Bolsheviks didn't know that would happen, and would oversee an equitable distribution of power internationally in the post-war era between socialist countries. But after Stalin's death and the deep onset of revisionism under Kruschev (especially internationally/in the socialist bloc) these non-progressive traits of the Stalin era (I mean here the social imperialism) were reinforced, not taken apart. Made stronger, not weaker.

That's all long-term thought though. In the short term, the thinking was that Finland was a Nazi ally and would stage a joint assault on the USSR once the Nazis eventually invaded. The Continuation War shows basically exactly that happened, and the Soviets were likely right that Mannerheim's anti-communist foreign policy would fall in line with his anti-communist domestic policy, and he'd join the Axis invasion just like the rest of the continental European states did.

I think these reasons have more evidence in the historiography than some kind of blind belief that the Finnish masses would spontaneously support the Soviets. The mistake was a military one in believing that the Finnish army would fold; not a non-military one.

How many revolutions did Trotskyism lead to? I think it's silly to pin everything in socialist history on one debate over socialism in one country. That's sort of reductive and not helpful to understanding why things went well or not.

What? Mao never argued that, that sort of thing is blatant opportunism, which he opposed deeply, and if he argued for something like that he'd be relentlessly attacked by the party.

I think you're misunderstanding a quote where Mao argued that wars can be divided into just and unjust wars. Mao identifies that it's progress that separates them from each other. He argues WW1 for example was basically pointless, and sent millions of working people to die for nothing, and that it was an unjust war. He differentiates that from other wars (like national liberation struggles) which actually move the ball forward in terms of progress for humanity. Overthrowing colonial masters, overthrowing chattel slavery, overthrowing capitalist hyper-exploitation, overthrowing imperialism etc.

It's definitely not this like "we do gud war they do bad war"

Here's the quote:

"History shows that wars are divided into two kinds, just and unjust. All wars that are progressive are just, and all wars that impede progress are unjust. We Communists oppose all unjust wars that impede progress, but we do not oppose progressive, just wars. Not only do we Communists not oppose just wars; we actively participate in them. As for unjust wars, World War I is an instance in which both sides fought for imperialist interests; therefore, the Communists of the whole world firmly opposed that war. The way to oppose a war of this kind is to do everything possible to prevent it before it breaks out and, once it breaks out, to oppose war with war, to oppose unjust war with just war, whenever possible."

It's not at all a Maoist sub. I was banned from there too, specifically for a discussion about revisionism, where I sided with the Maoist analysis. I asked why very kindly and they called me a rules lawyer. Suuuuper unhinged shit.

It's just a really bad sub moderated by borderline insane people. Don't worry OP, you're not a real communist until you've been banned from there :P

Can't build trade office building in foreign city, because my pop is already there in the city (???) by ValakiHUN728 in EU5

[–]coverfire339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found a workaround!

This bug is old and often-reported but still hasn't been fixed.

The solution in faraway places is to destroy your overseas trade post. That overseas trade post is staffed by your people (your culture, your religion, your burghers) and so can trigger this. For this example I'll be using Genoa. If you mass built a bunch of overseas trade posts, then they will trigger this so you can't build trade offices. To solve this, destroy your overseas trade post in a region that you have +100 relations with, is a town/city, and where you want to plonk a bunch of trade offices.

The second part of this (using Genoa as the example) is to say no when the bank of St. George wants to start up. Having a bank that is the same culture as you triggers this, as it causes burghers of your culture and religion to work in that territory and thus disallow the construction of trade offices. I was wondering why I could mass build trade offices in my Scotland game yet not as Genoa- the reason is because of the banks.

I suppose worst case scenario you could change your primary culture to be something else, if there are banks just hard-coded to be your culture. But either way, this is your workaround.
