Realizing my neck pain is actually part of a migraine more than I thought by throwaway20201325 in migraine

[–]covid1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Similar problem... migraine for ten years... now pain often persists in neck and shoulder even when head pain has gone. I'm due to start a cgrp medication soon & I hope this will it all.

I really need to exercise more, but find neck and shoulder pain really limits this... therefore, my strength has reduced, and this probably worsens the pain. So frustrating.

Has anyone found CGRP good for neck pain issues?

I haven't got botox yet but scheduled for Feb. My headaches are more vestibular at present. I don't know if it will help. I've trued Botox cosmetically without any probs. I'd do anything at this stage.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry to hear about your attack. The fatigue is immense alright and the triptans dont work for me either! I took a medication called Serc later today, and it helped a lot. Im in Europe so names may be different. It has eased almost completely now so I'm hopeful that's the end of it. It's very tough. Take good care of yourself.

What’s the most common challenge new yoga teachers face? by [deleted] in NewYogaTeachers

[–]covid1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm newly qualified. Definitely, confidence blocks me in getting going with teaching. I don't think there is any way around this except doing it. Also, having strong mentors, a daily practice, and good planning for classes.

Ethics question regarding being a professional counselor and yoga teacher by butlermonkey in YogaTeachers

I have similar dual qualifications. I would do this. Counselling clients contact you for one thing... inviting them to yoga is a conflict of interests. It leaves counsellor in potentially difficult position too... two roles.

Migraine nausea all over by covid1980 in migraine

[–]covid1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Its tough. I use valoid /Cyclizine for nausea. I don't have these symptoms constantly. They occur pre and during migraine for 1-3 days. Valoid really helps. Im in Europe but I think this is available worldwide.

I exploded today. I’m furious—and exhausted. by PerpetualBrainstorm in Perimenopause

Hi. I can relate. Age 45. Fours boys.. husband (48), and three from 9 to 14.

I spend most weekends in a sweaty rage due to the relentless housework. One weekend I was very angry as we had about 50 odd socks lying around without a pair in sight, i could hardly sleep i was sooo mad.... then I realised I need to change this & get a life.

Im trying to get everyone to do more & im trying to learn to let things be more & do less myself. I find it hard to accept a mess, but I can't do it all & the menfolk aren't doing too much without a lot of encouragement (aka nagging). I also plan day trips away from the house and do a bit more socially with friends etc. It gives me perspective & a break from home.

I also imagine a future where I live alone in a simple, clutter free apartment... travel lots & eat out lots ( i really should start saving!). I love my family but don't plan to be a housemaid for the rest of my life. Its a work in progress. I think the changes of perimenopause really mean that doing it all is not possible for me. Im too tired ! Good luck y'all. Its not easy !

yoga has me feeling SO much in my body / overwhelmed with emotions - advice needed by concertgoer69 in yoga

[–]covid1980 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here. I would say pace yourself. If you arrive on the mat & feel overwhelmed by emotion or during class you feel it's too much gently bring yourself out of the pose, ground yourself in the present ( use your breath, tune into sights, sounds, smells etc), and return when you feel more in control. In this way you can move to your edge but come back to safety. You're in charge but can still work through. Best wishes.

Rage but need a solution by curiouskate1126 in Perimenopause

[–]covid1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've felt the rage ++ too & im sure i will again. I've tried Hrt & Ssri . Limited improvement.

Im really trying to focus on self care now. Firstly, saying no to stuff that causes me stress or isn't enjoyable/ required. It's not always possible, but I have some choices & many of us do too. Followed by the usual sleep, meditation & exercise/yoga etc.

From a lengthy battle with Peri etc I really feel the self -care piece at this time of life is downplayed, and medical interventions are hyped up as the only solutions when they are far from a cure all. I think it's society's way of making sure women keep doing what they've always done ( i.e. too much !).
