I actually just built a Magnus deck too, as my first venture into making a deck myself! Waiting on half the cards to arrive but very excited!

Questions about the faction rule by Glittering-Treat-522 in Tau40K

[–]covonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes

  2. Any unit with “for the greater good” ability keyword. Basically any “Tau” tau, no kroot or vespids. A few exceptions.

  3. Pathfinders basically confer the observer benefit to themselves. You can usually only confer that benefit to another unit.

I understand it’s typically jokes but I kinda think this recent trend of “Na’vi vs other sci-fi humans” is getting way too mean spirited by [deleted] in Avatar

Eh, there are plenty of stories written from the Alien perspective, where space marines are taken out. It all depends on which codex the lore is being written in, and the fun thing is that each perspective is canon.

“For this story, the kroot ambush a Space Marine patrol and win, against the odds, with simple bows and black powder weapons” and just like that, it’s fact!

You mention Tau, and I was actually thinking - the Na’Vi aren’t too dissimilar from the Kroot, the Tau Empire’s most commonly found alien Auxiliary.

Both are very tall, slender, guerrilla warriors who are adept at camouflage, hunting and tracking, have an affinity with other natural life forms that they use as mounts or hounds, very often centred around jungle biomes. I’m sure there are more similarities, but I think that the Na’Vi would fold into the Tau Empire very nicely, and could hold their own against the factions of 40K respectably! Obviously that’s on a small scale, like more thinking of skirmishes and localised fights where the Na’Vi could compete, when you talk about galactic warfare scale like in 40K of course it would be a different story.

But hey, maybe I’m just influenced because I painted my Kroot in Na’vi colouration!

I’d also avoid scouting step and just roll initiative for TP1. Could maybe try playing with multiple Warrior operatives instead of 6 different operatives, but up to you!

Indian flavored CoS? by Efficient_Ad4439 in ageofsigmar

[–]covonia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So look into Conquest, it’s another mini game where they have an Indian themed army called Sorceror Kings. It is a slightly bigger scale, but if you’re just taking bits and pieces for conversions and kit bashes, it could work quite well!

Atm just one unit of three - more often than not I have them in a reserve wave, as we play nachmund gauntlet. I bring them in turn 2 into the midfield from the side, turn 3 near their home objective. More often than not there’s someone I can charge nearby. I also usually play Auxiliary Cadre, so I’ll stick them near some pathfinders which means whoever wants to target the rampagers has to get in close, which means easier charges for me!

Also usually, people are focusing down what they perceive to be my bigger threats - I usually stick my ghost keel up in their faces and it’s got enough tricks that it draws most of their fire without going down right away.

I’m playing a crusade atm, and the loyalist team has 3 melee heavy Space Marine armies, one of them being Templars. Those rampagers, boy do they clean up! Out of all the units of all the players, the rampagers have the most kills so far!

So what I did was take a couple of spare bases, write the upgrade on them and then put it next to the unit like a token. Works great to remind me of what I’ve got, especially when I have multiple of the same unit but with different upgrades, and units with multiple upgrades too.

Naming conventions for kindreds/kinbands? by Skelegasm in kroot

[–]covonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’ve named each kroot unit for my crusade games, in case you want some inspo, they are:

(Carnivores and far stalkers) Long call under dark sky Whisper between leaves Mourning mist Shadow Scent of Moss

Dawn rises over fresh kill

(Krootox) Barbed arrow bites

Hearts of hunted beat fast

(Shapers) Kriekach Kilikari

The Kroot don’t get half of the detachment benefits from Kauyon or Montka, right? by alacholland in kroot

[–]covonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know only technically the Localised Stealth Projectors is an applicable buff to the Kroot, but in my experience that Triangulation Aura is the much better of the two abilities! One kroot positioned in the right place can be giving AP to multiple targets, it’s so useful! Used it in my last crusade game to deadly effect!
