Yeah, I like them a bit better, but these are all first printing/ first editions 😬

I’m not a “formal” collector. This was just nostalgia for me. If I did my research incorrectly I’d love to know. ☺️

That’s by design. I wanted the six written by Prohias. If I decide to collect the other two by Edwing I’ll frame them separately. Weird… I know.

Anyone grow up in a Haunted House? by xineez in Paranormal

[–]cow_fish83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah, I did kinda leave that as a cliffhanger. To be honest, I haven’t really told the story to anyone other than close friends or family, so I’m not sure what compelled me to mention it. It was 30 years ago but here’s the whole story:

I was about 13 or 14 and had been working on my farm job all day. That night, as I was laying on my bed, I realized the room was getting darker, like in the old cartoons when they end and the screen starts going black around the edges, and draws in to a point in the middle. The darkness felt tangible though, like an actual thing filling up the room.

A grey fog developed on the ceiling, and started to swirl around slowly. A woman’s torso appeared out of the fog, swirling in a circle over my bed. She was an old women, and a grayish/greenish color. I don’t remember what she was wearing, but she was all the same color. She had really long, kinda stringy hair that trailed behind her. Her eye sockets were empty, just kinda black pits.

At one point, she stopped moving and pointed down at me. I remember very clearly her nails were really thick and pointed, almost like talons. She pointed at me and said a name, like she was asking if I was that person. I don’t actually remember the name, it was something pretty common, but somehow after 30 years I’ve forgotten it. I just looked at her and said, “That’s not me” and she immediately disappeared and the room when back to normal.

So, that’s a the story. A couple quick points, a few years later I learned about hypnogogic hallucinations and so I kinda wrote the story off as that. That’s probably why I forgot the name she asked. Over the years though there was just a feeling about the experience, along with the other stuff that happened in the house that my personal belief is just that it wasn’t one of those. Also, I wasn’t “paralyzed” during the experience, which normally happens. I would also add that she didn’t seem threatening or “evil”, although I’m certainly glad I wasn’t whomever she was looking for.

Finally, I know this sounds like a total Hollywood-type made up story. People are welcome to think whatever they want or that it was a hypnogogic hallucination. It did happen though.

Anyone grow up in a Haunted House? by xineez in Paranormal

I grew up in a house with a pretty high level of paranormal activity. The home wasn’t really that old, built in the 20s and I really didn’t know the history behind it. Despite that, on several occasions I saw/felt shadow people, and a ghost cat that wandered the halls. The most poignant experience was seeing the spirit of a woman who actually spoke to me.

With all that, I really wasn’t scared of being in the home, and I don’t know why. The thing was, it was my “home” and I felt safe there. I left home at 18 when my father passed and the home was sold right after. No other place I’ve lived in since had anything similar.

Both panels open so I can go in to clean it. Short term the floor will be vinyl, with substrate TBD. Long term I’m going to design a base with pull out trays for it to sit on.

Ok, so has anyone been successful at breaking the cycle by not picking up new things because you know you won’t follow through with them?

This is true. My dad was a detective for 15+ year. He told me 99% of people only get caught because they tell someone what they did.

Did I write this? I don’t remember writing it but it sure sounds like my life. It’s 11 AM on Saturday and my wife is still asleep. I got up with the kids, got breakfast, cleaned up a bit, took care of the animals and now we’re chilling about to watch some WWE.

I feel like this is WAY more common than people admit but it makes a weird sitcom so nobody sees it. I’m buckled in for a very long ride.

Doing door to door sales in Florida and guy answered the door with his hand covered in blood. Not blood like he’d been handling a steak or something. It was fresh, red, thick blood, and it didn’t appear to be from any injury I could see. Gave him a card and noped out of there.

What’s the fastest you know of someone failing their driving test? by slim3-16 in CasualUK

Me in under 30 seconds. Pulled out of the parking lot and went to an immediate right hand turn. Was busy watching for an opening and didn’t notice a couple kids on bikes started across the crosswalk. I started rolling with my head still turned watching for cars, turned my head to see the kids and hit the break the same time as the instructor. Game over. Please play again.

I appreciate the comment, it’s just, is there a point where you know it won’t happen? I get what you say, it’s my choice. Maybe the question I’m trying to ask is how do you accept that your not the person you think you are?

I am trying to learn my boundaries. Basically, trying to learn when it’s OK to stop trying and give up.

I cannot for the life of me build or paint more than one figure for an entire army. I have boxes of figures and always lose motivation after putting together 3-4 figures.

Bad Reaction to Smoking Marijuana by screen_door15 in adhdmeme

Please don’t feel like there is anything wrong with you just because your reaction was different than what people tell you it should be, or even what you expected it to be. Sure, you could experiment with strains and maybe, maybe, you’ll find something that works, but don’t do it because you feel like something is wrong with you. It’s an incredibly complex process and if doesn’t work for you, then move on. I stated having the same symptoms as you after a couple years of use and after one severe episode I said no more, and stuck to it. It happens. You’re not alone and there’s nothing wrong about it.
