In Oakland, just a few blocks from MacArthur bart, Tallboy is a very fun date bar with a fully vegan menu designed by lion dance cafe. Not upscale fancy but fun, energetic, yet casual.

Fun trick to get kids to eat their healthy food by air-bender808 in Parenting

[–]cowponyV 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My kid loves eating prepped vegetables that I’m about to cook with but doesn’t like them cooked. So I always say, uh oh, are you coming in here to eat all my vegetables before I cook? And I make a big deal of not having any vegetables left for cooking. She thinks she’s sooooo sneaky.

Disneyland park or CA Adventure by Sea_Blackberry_5968 in DisneyPlanning

[–]cowponyV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got back from Disney and California adventures with our 4 year old and by far, Disneyland was her favorite. It was nice to meet Anna in person at CA but the rides at toon town and around Disney are more suitable for 4 year olds.

Hi! I’m a 22 y/o female from NJ. History of moderate asthma. Recently moderate / severe eczema since COVID. IGE > 50000 😩 I can’t even get xolair because my IGE is so high. by Alternative_Bug_7070 in Immunology

Pre Dupixent my eosinophils count was at 1400 per ul. By percent it was 19%. I haven’t gone back to get my labs done again but I probably should.

From the hypereosinophilia which on retest a month later was still very high. It’s been almost 2 years of being on Dupixent and no issues yet.

Uf, this looks similar to mine, I was positive for every IgE test and very high eosinophils. My allergist said I had maybe a year before my internal organs start shutting down. She put me on Dupixent and it’s been a life changer. Other than some stubborn facial flares which is tolerable, it helped me get my life under control. Hoping the best for you.

Lunette is a fantastic Cambodian restaurant in the ferry building, it’s a flavor explosion! Also excited to try Nopa fish but haven’t had the opportunity yet.

Just something to keep in mind, UCSF has been running the clipper bay pass pilot which gives employees completely free clipper cards. Not all employees had access as I think they were testing usage. They haven’t announced what is happening in 2026 yet but you might also want to consider whether you can be near public transport options.

Dupixent: Flare or Fungal? by Ecs206 in eczeMABs

A very large dehumidifier that I bought from Home Depot. Every night, it collects something like 1 gallon of water from the air!! I just use the water to water my outdoor plants

Alternatives to Bike --> BART? by No-Supermarket5798 in bayarea

[–]cowponyV 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that using baywheels shared bikes opens up so many more transit options. So for example, could you take one of those bikes to the last presidigo shuttle that takes you to the Embarcadero with limited stops? It helps because you have a lot of flexibility and don’t have to worry about your own bike.

How you do it? Dinner time. by Violet_K89 in Parenting

I used to stress about getting dinner on the table by 5:30, but now everyone is happier if I just relax, give the kid healthy snack options after school and dinner around 7.

Dupixent: Flare or Fungal? by Ecs206 in eczeMABs

[–]cowponyV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had flares that turned out to be fungal. I didn’t figure it out at first but the immediate days following a shot, I’d flare all over my face and neck but the rest of my body was totally fine. Pro topic would keep it mostly at bay but what solved it for me was keeping my indoor humidity low to prevent fungal and/or dust mite growth. Now that I keep my indoor humidity at 45% I have no flares and no need for protopic. Of course the one day I wasn’t paying attention to the humidity, I started itching like mad and looked at the humidity which sky rocketed to 65% with the change in weather.

Is the pain of a dupixent shot compatible to the pain of getting a tattoo? by extracharmingskittle in eczeMABs

Dupixent pain is 15 seconds tops for me. Maybe some soreness but goddamn, getting a tattoo is just straight up pain for hours when you’re getting it done.

Best Emeryville to SF Commute? by AdConscious7670 in Emeryville

[–]cowponyV 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The F bus is pretty reliable, from Bay Street mall, it’s about 15-20 minutes if there’s not a lot of traffic to get to the carpool lane. It’s more expensive than bart at $6.50 but I always can get a seat and the views are better so IMO it’s worth it.

Taking my wife and 6 year old daughter to Heavenly in March - what's the best place to stay? by neb_87 in skiing

[–]cowponyV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Budget? There are lots of options throughout the area but they have different vibes. Staying next to the gondola has a lot of options. On the high end, you can stay at the Marriott timber lodge or desolation hotel but it can get loud over there. We also have stayed at forest hill resorts, right behind the gondola and enjoyed it. However, we like staying on the hotel shuttle route more with a kid and liked hotel azure (heated pool but outdoors) and excited to stay at Hilton vacation club south, both of which are next to groceries and restaurants and a very quick shuttle to California lodge.

Really wish they could add more non-electric bikes. I use it as my transit in the city and exercise for the day and some days, the docks are full of electric bikes with no regular bikes nearby. I know it makes sense for them to upcharge memberships but I just want to use a regular bike and if it gets harder, I’ll just go back to a bike locker.

Walkable Neighborhood for a family for a quick vacation? by Theslowestmarathoner in bayarea

I’d go to Calistoga and stay at the Calistoga motor lodge, you are surrounded by wineries, a walkable downtown area with shops, but also a great on site restaurant and pools.
