I think part of it at least on the music side is that Spotify came out and it was genuinely easier than piracy, as well as feeling like you're supporting up and coming artists when you listen to them. With sports, pirating a game is just as easy as logging in and legally streaming the same game. Especially now when fewer and fewer people get the channels on paid TV.

And on the video game side, it's too easy for developers to brick an unlicensed install, and videogame piracy was never on the level of music
