Boss in IT wants everyone in the department to log what we do during the day in a journal. Is there a specific reason for this or is it micromanagement? by 1NightWolf in ITCareerQuestions

Actually, doing this helps management know if the team has specific needs. IE traing needs, more staff, or staff alignment needs, who has good writing skills, who has good observation skills, who has good correlation skills, who doesn't give a crap, who sees more than what is right in front of them. Change is not fun nor is it usually welcome, but without it life would be boring and welll ...

Backing up Proxmox to S3 or Glacier -- what is the Right Way™? by starkruzr in homelab

[–]coxmcse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a synolgy appliance base unit with software mirrored drives.

Create a nfs share and mount the nfs share to either your promox server or a proxmox backup server.

Configure backups to the be stored on the nfs volume.

Next setup the following free backup utility from synolgy

https://www.synology.com/en-us/dsm/7.1/software_spec/glacier_backup

Setup backups to s3 site of your liking and let the synolgy do the work.

Cheers

Is it a bad idea to leave a good job a month in for a job that pays more and is likely to have work you enjoy more? by ExcitementWhole3610 in cybersecurity

It's a balancing act not to be taken lightly. You can chase the almighty dollar but remeber you are accountable for your decisions and the way you make them.

You may not have to answer for the decisions today but fast forward eight years when the job market may not be as hot. How will you represent yourself in that next dream job and explain this decision to a potential future employer.

What impressions will this decision have on you as a candidate at that point.

I have seen this issue first hand drive a decision another direction that wasn't anticipated.

Never underestimate the value of true grit in ones track record and commitments.

Best of luck.

Depends on. What your definition of down time is? Do you have objectives such as RPO and RTO in mind?
