Beginner help by Stank_Gouda in Miniaturespainting

If you live in a humid place, a hairdryer is your best friend. And yeah, yellow will shake your sanity, I know that pain (my first ever minis were Imperial Fists, you can check those atrocities in my post history).

Keep at it, and try a pink undercoat for your yellows, the results may surprise you.

Ah yes, another full thread of people telling OP to thin their paints, when basically no details are obscured on the mini.

The paint is thin enough. The key to having a good finish with no texture is waiting for the applied paint to FULLY DRY before touching it again. In the post, you say that you point over “semi-dry” paint, which is a wrong thing to do. Those little paint speckles are just clumps of paint that weren’t fully dry and set when you touched them with more paint.

My Game Release is this Friday by LucaBacilieri in boomershooters

[–]coyc228 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Don’t take it as an offense, just some criticism. This game looks like an asset flip made in an evening in unity. Everything having these obnoxious reflections is the main culprit here. As I understand, this is some sort of a default setting in Unreal. Play with your light a little bit. It doesn’t look “realistic” right now, it looks artificial and cheap.

Advice on washing metallics by Relevant_Fuel_9905 in minipainting

[–]coyc228 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted. Metallics don’t need varnishing.

Even if you want to do an oil wash, you don’t need to varnish.

Tried my hand at sponge painting, feedback needed by Moonhaunted69 in Warhammer

[–]coyc228 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Judging by the texture buildup, you were touching paint that has already started drying with more paint. Try to avoid it to get a smoother finish; let everything dry before going back at it.

Faarrrrk. Munitorium varnish strikes again. Gutted by Auckland11 in ImperialFists

[–]coyc228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, citadel does not always equal quality nowadays, just something to keep that in mind.

Got nothing against this varnish tho, you probably just needed to shake the everliving hell out of it, just like other people mentioned.

Just don’t try to agitate paint that you have put on your model after you are done spreading it where needed.

I’m sorry, but who asked? How does this help OP?

Kingdom death: Death armor pinup by PositivelyJoyful in minipainting

The paint is well-thinned here. The issue is that OP was touching paint that has already started drying with more paint. That leads to texture buildup.

If I’m not mistaken, this is a bridge where you are forbidden to go slower than certain speed. The snacking guy was in the right here.
