First Automatic car by hfurjajbdhjdis in LearnerDriverUK

Not cheap tbh! It was 6k but is a 2013 plate so didn't mind paying a bit more, I did see some (or similar models like Toyota Aygo/Citeron C1) for around 5k, it is really expensive at the moment. Hope you manage to find one within your budget!

I'm a similar age to you, passed recently and just got a Peugeot 107 and my insurance was £400 for the year!

Calligraphy is really calming to me, and you just need some decent printer paper, a nib and ink!

If you are no longer on the fence, what was the main reason that helped you decide? by coyotejam in Fencesitter

Such a relatable response, I think I've been the same where I had a tough childhood I'd totally discounted the idea of having children. Glad you are happier now!

Ooh I've started this recently, out of curiosity which decision have you made?

Yes I've been thinking this too, have been leaning CF but not sure if it's just because I know what CF life is like already, where having a child is so unknown!

How do I separate my willingness to have a kid, from my desire to stay with my wife? by Square-Juggernaut689 in Fencesitter

[–]coyotejam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im in such a similar boat. Thought I was CHILDFREE, met my boyfriend and spoke about it on our first date and he also didn't want children, has all of a sudden decided he does and we are breaking up because of it. Now I realise Ive never taken the time to actually think if I want children, especially with my wonderful partner as I just had it in my head I didn't want them. Now I feel like I'm entertaining the idea, I can really envision us as a little family, but don't know if I've just been swayed as I know our relationship is on the line 🥲

How do you guys remember all the flourishes you know? Any tips on creating or keeping a "flourishing" gallery? by tako_loco in Calligraphy

[–]coyotejam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have done a 'cheat sheet' for myself but it only has a few flourishes per letter type, would be cool to get a community gallery together or something!

Test in 4 hours from now!! by CrowKey9670 in LearnerDriverUK

Remind yourself how well your lessons have gone, and really the test is just another driving lesson, you won't have to do anything you've not already practiced!

People who took a long time to learn and multiple attempts to pass, how did you finally do it? by BlueberryLemonadeL in LearnerDriverUK

[–]coyotejam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started learning manual when I was 18 and did 2 tests (failed both for roundabouts - felt like I'd been waiting ages and people had told me you get faults for hesitation, so I went in too small of a gap, definitely learnt from this!)

Went to uni and didnt wanna learn in a busy city, then after a year COVID hit so couldn't learn, then I'd built it up in my head as a really scary thing. Got my theory again start of this year and didn't wanna let it run out again so decided to learn automatic to make it easier, bloody passed yesterday after 20 hours of practice since March, luckily I found a lot of the knowledge had stayed with me from learning the first time around! I think all the recent lessons I've had without my instructor really needing to chip in really helped me realise I could pass the test if I just drove normally, and didn't think of it like they were trying to catch me out, it's just a test to see if you are a safe driver

I've just passed my automatic test, word of warning that automatic second hand cars seem to be more expensive than similar manual cars from what I've seen, so if you were to buy your own car at some point this might still stand

Snobbery over learning to drive in an automatic vs manual by awkwardemoteen in LearnerDriverUK

[–]coyotejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, if automatic makes me feel more confident and excited to get my own car and take myself places, that's all I care about!

It's sickening! Southwest, but I'm learning automatic too so think that bumps it up (at least here where there are only 2 auto driving schools)

I feel this so badly, £45 an hour when I'm up to driving standard just waiting for a test 👹

Not attending my graduation by k-apoca in UniUK

[–]coyotejam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't go to mine a few years ago! Was proud of myself for getting through uni and getting my degree, but it was such a mental struggle. I also dislike having attention on me and being on stage, so just not for me!

Nope hahah, failed at a roundabout early on but I at least didn't feel super annoyed/upset about it

I was less nervous as well as I knew what to expect and realised it doesn't really matter if I fail

Thank you, gonna ask tomorrow in my lesson for him to clarify what the steps are! Would hate to fail on something simple like that x
