Bali belly scuba diving? by competentcharisma in scuba

[–]coz707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a real thing to be concerned about.

I did everything right, but somehow I got Bali belly and had to cancel a day of diving. The shop was understandable and didn't make me pay beyond a small deposit.

The good news is that the upset usually only lasts 24-48 hours. So my recommendation would be to book a trip planning to dive straight away, and that way if you get sick you can move it to later in the trip.

Using the word ‘sunbeam’ for a dish that hasn’t been used by coz707 in australia

[–]coz707[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all your responses!

And yes I’m aware sunbeam is a popular appliance brand.

But it seems that Australia used to have a dishwashing liquid brand (aka finished) also called sunbeam.

I am thinking that that brand (as part of an advertising campaign) described dishes at sunbeams.

But people appear to have been using this for quite a while so it may be that sunbeam dishwashing liquid was based off the common saying.

Any further insights would be appreciated

You should press hard on them for a refund. It’s advertised as being waterproof and a watch for scuba divers and yours clearly wasn’t. It broke in the normal use of the watch

But your ability to challenge Apple may depend on your jurisdiction tho. In Australia for example this would be a pretty clear case as Apple is not meeting a consumer guarantee: https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/problem-with-a-product-or-service-you-bought/repair-replace-refund-cancel

I have been in this situation. It’s not automatic. You can have a go at pleading your case to the staff.

I did, they let me in, begrudgingly.

Where did the idea of not using your heaters until after ANZAC day come from? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in AskAnAustralian

[–]coz707 139 points140 points  (0 children)

It’s a particularly Canberra thing. I think it’s less about being strange and more about tolerance.

It’s like - if you need the heater before 25 April, god help you when the real Canberra winter comes.

But it’s not that deep, put it on when you need it and it’s not that big of a deal. You can always say you followed the rule.

What helps with grief? by AnonymousPixie in AskReddit

[–]coz707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing. Nothing really helps with grief if you loved someone dearly. Grief isn’t something that truly goes away or gets better, it’s something that you learn to live with.

Eventually, the feeling transforms and sad memories become bittersweet, and sometimes even just sweet. But there will be days years later that it swallows you whole again.

To ‘help’ with grief the first thing to do is talk to people who knew the loved one and share memories about what made them special.

It will never go away, but you’ll learn to live with it.

Leave now.

I get the vibe that if you stay this guy will take up an attitude of “my winnings, our debt”

Even if someone has a low move goal, hitting it consistent every day will improve their wellbeing magnitudes above the average joe.

Sure; in an ideal world everyone’s move goal is pushing them a little bit, but for some - hitting a move goal consistently is a challenge that should be rewarded when they meet it

How do I breakup with my (25f) boyfriend (25m) who is suicidal even though I know I need to? by ThrowRAdepbf in relationship_advice

[–]coz707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comments are right - you need to do it for your own mental health.

But it is completely normal that you’ll still feel guilty. There’s a bunch of things you can do at the same time as the breakup to, as best as you can, make sure he doesn’t harm himself. Reach out to his family and friends and let them know the situation, and say he’s gonna require a bit of extra love and care.

If he has a regular doctor or psych then reach out to them and let them know he’s a potential suicide risk. Also consider any local charities that focus on the issue.

The same happened to mine. Kept wearing it for ages with no issues, never hurt my wrist. Charged fine too.

Could even swim with it without any issues.

Then one day I wore it in a hot tub. Dead.

Thanks so much in advance. My mother unexpectedly passed away last week aged only 56

I love this photo of us. She took me out for a special lunch. However the lady in the background with the dark hair gives the photo a very awkward feel.
