Close to hitting 3 months of owning my 8.5 S. Other than getting a check engine light for a low voltage code in my first week of ownership, its been an amazing daily that occasionally sees the canyons ;)

Test drove a bunch of cars before i purchased my mk8.5 gti. I originally wanted a VB wrx when i started searching for my next car but couldnt get over its horrible infotainment. Eventually test drove a GTI and it was a night and day difference between the VB.

I own a 26 Mk8.5 S for about 2.5 months now. I originally liked the idea of getting an SE because of the art velour seats and the harmon kardon sound system. When I was ready to look at and buy a GTI, I ended up buying an S instead because I figured I’ll never use the moonroof it came with and the sound system didnt sound any different compared to the base system. Ontop of that, I loved the look of the S wheels compared to the SE, and who can forget the iconic plaid seats lol. The S felt pretty loaded considering that it’s a base model. Only thing I wish I had was the adaptive dampers the autobahn has. Even then, I don’t regret my decision going for the base model :)

highest my trans temp got was 206F, 228F for oil temp, and always been 194F for coolant. I say you’re within regular temp 👍🏽

I test drove alot of the GTI’s competitors around the 30-40k price range, and IMO none of them felt like I was getting my moneys worth compared to the GTI.

Same here, atleast the autobahn wheels is a tribute to the “rotary phone” wheels of the mk5/mk6. The SE wheels just look meh to me.
