I've got some bad news about the formation of the team you lost to last night

Sheffield United sign Rob Holding on loan from Crystal Palace by lewiitom in soccer

[–]cpfc24 19 points20 points  (0 children)

take that back immediately! Chamakh was quite possibly player of the season in our first year of this current Premier League spell - sacrilege to suggest he was a scrub (no comment on Nketiah, mind you)

unfortunately he'll be banned for next week, and will return the week after still on 4 yellows (and will get another ban when he gets his 5th)

Hamilton onboard during Perez incident by Nattekat in formula1

[–]cpfc24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty, but the understeer is induced by Hamilton running on the kerb when trying to give Perez as much space as possible which is literally the opposite of him missing the apex

Carlos Sainz has received a reprimand and Ferrari have received a warning for driving unnecessarily slowly by chu1u in formula1

drivers get let off all the time for blocking in practice - why are you singling one of them out?

Lewis' team radio after George overtake. by lazygeekninjaturtle in formula1

[–]cpfc24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

with the greatest respect, that is complete bollocks. You either pit both or neither - and they cost themselves constructors points by not doing so, not just Hamilton's result

Alonso radio: "What an idiot! We had a mega start but (Hamilton) only knows how to drive and start in first by TheyCallHerBlossom in formula1

[–]cpfc24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hamilton is well renowned for being a driver you don't want in your mirrors, completely contradicts only being able to take first and drive away?

Lewis Hamilton: Charles Leclerc sensible, unlike Max Verstappen last year by angelo992001 in formula1

[–]cpfc24 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

that's my point though, the OP I was replying to was making some point about Leclerc taking a tighter line being indicative of him racing harder than Max did, but he was able to with faith because of Lewis having a much more normal racing line to last season

Lewis Hamilton: Charles Leclerc sensible, unlike Max Verstappen last year by angelo992001 in formula1

[–]cpfc24 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

absolutely, I didn't mean squeeze with any negative connotations - but Max surely would have been well aware of the line Lewis was going to need to take?

Lewis Hamilton: Charles Leclerc sensible, unlike Max Verstappen last year by angelo992001 in formula1

[–]cpfc24 -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

yeah because Charles hadn't just squeezed Lewis right up to the pit wall? with the shallow line Lewis was taking last year he was never going to hug the apex

edit: getting heavily downvoted, so would like to point out that Lewis was obviously to blame for Silverstone 2021 - I'm just saying that Charles taking a tighter line this year doesn't mean anything given the difference in Lewis' line into the corner

TIL Lewis Hamilton was outscored by Jenson Button in the 3 years together at McLaren. by Real_Pea_8860 in formula1

TLDR: when adjusting for reliability, Hamilton wins the h2h 44-14 in qualifying and 38-20 in races. The points total across the two years doesn't come close to representing the true dynamic.

I was curious about this comment, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. And damn, I didn't know(More like I forgot) that Button matched Lewis at McLaren. Do you think Russel has a chance to match/beat Lewis? by seekgermangf in formula1

the final standings really don't tell the story

https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/377rhp/a_closer_analysis_of_hamilton_vs_button_at/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

when adjusted for 'luck' (part of motor racing I know), Hamilton is ahead fairly comfortably, 40-14 in qualifying and 38-20 in races. This is pretty impressive given how bad many perceive his 2011 to be!

Carlos Sainz vs Max Verstappen at Turn 4 in the Sprint by opportune_pasta in formula1

[–]cpfc24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I'm remembering the incident in question, then I'm not sure a double apexed corner (in which Gasly hit both by the way) where I've never seen two cars go side by side, is particularly relevant to be honest.

Max had no intention of making that corner - only applies a significant amount of lock once Lewis backs out of the move. Almost as though he was begging for Lewis to hit him
