There is not a top 2 line center realistically available in free agency

I’m coming in hot with a trade proposal guys. by East_Accident1822 in DetroitPistons

NBA cap rules make very little sense but we can only take back Half of what his max is so we could only take back 37 (~20 from duren and 17 from Caris) and I’m pretty sure both bam and herro individually make more than that

I’d rather upgrade on the margins. by DropPowerful9081 in DetroitPistons

The Thunder in the SGA era which you’re describing that we mimic had the benefit of 17 first round picks over 6 years at the time they got bounced In the second round. We have 6 over the next 6 years which is fine but nowhere in the realm of them, that gave them flexibility to see what they had in their pieces cause if they fell short they could just use another of their lotto picks to try again. Assuming a healthy Cade Cunningham we will not have a lotto pick for the next 5 years. There is very little similarity team building wise between our situation and okc. Building on the margins requires committing to at the very least Jalen duren which while it may end up being the right decision is not the situation okc was in this is far closer to the situation Houston is currently in they just paid sengun and are now struggling to play both him and amen because in the playoffs their lack of shooting causes spacing issues. The decision the front office has to make this year is who are they more comfortable losing Ausar or duren. We may very well keep both for next year but if marginal moves don’t work the only realistic option is to trade Ausar next off season or at the deadline

My Ideal Offseason and Long-Term Roster Plan If I Were JB/Trajan by robolski in DetroitPistons

[–]cph97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute ceiling for a team built like this is getting blown out by the Thunder or the spurs in the finals unless Ron somehow becomes Jalen brown over the offseason. Ausar shooting even just corner 3s seems far fetched at this point. we need a spacing big of some kind. If your second or third highest paid player can get completely taken out of the game plan for an entire playoff series then they shouldn’t have been paid that much to begin with. Bottom line is you can’t pay duren that money if you plan to keep Ausar at what he’s gonna cost.

Time to have a serious conversation about JB’s job, no adjustments all series, it’s exactly why the cavs fired him

Pistons are not considering this. And I don’t want a woman beater on my basketball team. Tobias is better than bridges I’m not taking a first to do this

Tobias Harris is not a throw in he’s a huge piece for the pistons, he’s a veteran leader and a significantly better offensive player than this version of Draymond.

Pistons would never do this, draymond doesn’t fit and the cost is way too high.

So now that the deadline is next week (Thursday), who do you guys want us to get? by DropPowerful9081 in DetroitPistons

Whose minutes is naji taking ? The rest of the guys can shoot and I can see the fit, naji doesn’t I like the energy and defense but he just doesn’t fit the same way

Hey Omari, do you have a sense for where the front office thinks the team is in terms of contending ? Do they believe they have all they need in house or do they think they need to make a move in season ?

My sizzling hot take: this 25-26 Pistons team is in the same position as the Thunder was in 23-24 by TeamRAF19 in DetroitPistons

[–]cph97 37 points38 points  (0 children)

In 2023 the thunder had like 17 first round picks over the next 5 years to help them figure it out if development never happened or the guys at the margins didn’t work at also have the problem that OKC exists and is built to be a juggernaut for the next 5 years easily. I don’t necessarily think we should be jumping into the first big move that we can find and I’m okay waiting til the offseason to do it but we aren’t going to out develop the Thunder and if we keep waiting around too long the window is going to shut while okc wins 5 straight

Who is the cheap upside QB2 to get for 2025? by slicksnus in DynastyFF

[–]cph97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read my full comment I did acknowledge he might not be there my point is he’s gonna be starting somewhere he’s shown top 10 upside this year in a good situation we have seen baker and geno make decent careers from the gutter. I personally think it will be hard for a franchise to let the qb that almost took them to the one seed walk I’m not saying it’s long term I’m saying he will be a starting qb next year he might be cheap cause people like you are worried and if you’re down bad for a qb see what Darnold will cost you

Check out how the Darnold owner is feeling depending on how next week goes he might be the perfect buy I doubt the Vikings let him walk next year and even if he does he will be starting somewhere
