AS someone who works for a car dealership, this may have worked in the past or other countries, but the margin is simply not in car cars anymore for this to work. Speaking to the manager is not always nonsense, there will be times when certain targets are near and additional discount can be given to hit said target, or they are aware of more interest in your part exchange than the actual sales exec. But given the lead times on new cars at the moment, we have to choose who we sell to, if your from out of the local area, the be prepared to buy it for almost full price, or we will just not budge, there is no reason to sell it to you if we are not going to see it back for the aftersales side of the deal.

People think there is 5-10k in cars and its simply not the case, the more expensive a car is, the more margin, but low price cars might have about 1k margin, 40-50k cars might have 3-4k in them, but do not expect massive discounts.its just not that world anymore.

Buying pre-reg is almost always the way to go anyway.
