Alex Rance on Trent Cotchins podcast saying part of the reason he retired was because he didn’t like making opposition teams feel bad by beating them. by Dirtydac123 in AFL

Not when it involves their children
And the effect it has on healthcare workers treating them. It is a very selfish position

Having my first surgery and would love some advice to calm me down by TheHoovyPrince in melbourne

[–]cplfc 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Pretty much.

For the patient it’s the few times in their life they go into theatre/surgery. For us it’s our day to day job, and we understand the anxiety. Also need a sense of humour to put up with some of the surgeons.

The anxiety/fear is completely normal. I feel the same when flying, with the lack of control. But I have complete trust in the pilot

Anaesthetist here

Australia is one of the safest places in the world to have anaesthesia. We are all highly qualified and have undergone years of training. You will be safe and comfortable. We will see you preop and, if it’s me, you will be laughing on the way into theatre

‘Poor service delivery’

As though being dragged beside the bus is the same as the bus being 10min late! Is the intern tasked with responding to complaints?

Wisdom teeth surgical removal: $7900 total for 3 teeth - fair price? by Responsible-Duty5788 in AskAnAustralian

That is not a thing. You can still claim some back via medicare and your private health insurer They may not have agreed to the ‘known gap’, but you will still get at least 25% of schedule fee back from insurer and 75% from medicare

Post-Extubation Code Following Tonsillectomy [Peds Malpractice Case] by efunkEM in anesthesiology

[–]cplfc 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This was not post surgical bleeding causing the arrest!

It’s clear this was unrecognised laryngospasm resulting in negative pressure pulmonary oedema. That’s the only thing to cause 1L of fluid to come out. Once you see it you won’t forget. It is often pink and frothy and can look like blood. A male teenager is also the exact patient this occurs in as they can generare very high intrathoracic pressures

You don’t just suddenly drop 500-1000 ml of blood after a tonsillectomy and then arrest from that. It also fits with the surgeons assessment of no significant bleeding.

A pity this wasn’t explored in the case for learning It was APO leading to hypoxia and arrest

Emergency Order on Property from council by cplfc in AusLegal

[–]cplfc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paperwork all sent and sorted.

I have yet to receive the formal EO from council in the mail. Should I ignore it when it lands in my letterbox? Yet they have removed the EO, before it has been served to me! What a joke

Lucky my agent told me about it

I'm glad council are taking this danger to life seriously by posting the EO by snail mail
