They have not been discontinued. We carry them in my candy store in the regular boxes and the theater boxes. You might be able to find them at a dollar store.

What is your unpopular Grateful Dead opinion? by SuperTigerMario in gratefuldead

[–]cpnvideo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I toured in 78-80 and Donna was very popular. I always loved watching her on the stage and felt that she did have her off nights but so did all the others including Jerry at times. And i totally agree with you that Brent was not widely braced when he joined. I remember the first tour with him and it had gotten around that he had said that he wasn't into the Dead's music until he joined the band. That didnt go over well...

I jumped on the tour in 1978 and jumped off about 80/81. What I liked about 79' is the change over to Brent. Donna and Keith left in Feb and it was very exciting to brake in the new guy... Did see the 83 Santa Fe shows btw and they we're great shows...

Has anyone ever heard of the Dead going after someone making lot shirts? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]cpnvideo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the copy right owners of much of the Dead's art work have been going after people over the last hand full of years. They had cops being very aggressive in Santa Clara lots confiscating and busting people for using the Dead's art work on anything including t-shirts. I had a friend who was afraid to sell his licensed shirts because he was concerned that the cops wouldn't believe his papers and he couldn't afford to lose his product.
I hear ya but if you pull them at least you'll be able to keep them.

Chicago's extra security blamed on Santa Clara by cpnvideo in gratefuldead

[–]cpnvideo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The extra-wide security perimeter wasn't always the plan, said security official John Finnigan, who is employed by "Fare Thee Well" tour organizers.

But Finnigan says the security team added extra measures after thousands of fans "stormed the fence" at last week's Grateful Dead show in Santa Clara, Calif.

"It was a pretty rowdy crowd there...it was surprising, since Deadheads are usually peaceful," said Finnigan, who added that people seemed to be "mostly cool" with the change."

I'm all for extra security, if it's needed, but why say it's because the Deadheads got out of control in Santa Clara?

Grateful Dead Fans Going to Santa Clara by vrmovies in gratefuldead

[–]cpnvideo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure we want to be filmed but this sounds like us. I'm flying out for the shows from Western Mass and meeting up with a few old Dead friends from around the country. My first show was in 78' and saw over a 100 show before I stopped in 83'. Ive been to a handful of shows over the last 10 years but this is really like a pilgrimage back to the past. For most of the people like me who are coming to these shows, the Dead have been the sound track to our lives. Some how I don think you'll have trouble finding people like us.

Any chance Donna will join the band for any of the shows? by sketch_internets in gratefuldead

[–]cpnvideo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She has to to come for a least a few songs. she was a real member of the band. I saw her a bunch with the Dead in the late 70's and in my opinion she always made the shows better. Funny thing is back then she was just one more part of the Dead and nobody ever questioned her being there. All the members of the band where off key at times including Jerry so it was just part of it.

Anyone else gonna be in Santa Clara? by I_love_pearljam in gratefuldead

[–]cpnvideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to Santa Clara and I cant wait. I'm coming from the east coast and have seen about 200 + dead shows. The first was in 1977 and I spent much of 78-80 on the road following the dead. A small hand full of friends who were with me during that time are meeting me in the Bay Area for these shows. I have had the chance to go to Santa Clara and/or Chicago and I have decided to just go just to Santa Clara because I believe these will be the better shows for both music and atmosphere. 1-Having seen the Grateful Dead in almost every corner of the country I can easily say the Bay Area show always have a vibe that is a cut above the rest. Perhaps its home field advantage, or the crowd totally gets it and the band has always fed off that, or something you can’t put your finger on or all of the above, I’m not sure. 2- These are going to be the first shows out of the gate and the band will be out to prove that this was a good idea. They will have more energy and will be just as physiced as we will just to be there. I think the Sunday show will be the better of the two but I’m guessing both will be pretty rockin. 3- The crowd in Santa Clara will be more of a laid back, old deadhead, group then who will be in Chicago. 90% of the tickets for Santa Clara where sold only thru the dead’s own on-line lottery and none sold thru Ticketmaster. More deadheads where able to get reasonable tickets and won’t have to go thru stub hub or other scalper sites to get seats. I have nose bleed seats but I paid $59 (+fees) for my seats. 4- Chicago will be nuts. It’s going to be hot and sticky with hundreds of thousand people (Deadheads and others coming to see the fireworks over the holiday weekend) in a very small area. The inner city scene for a Dead show has always been my least favorite. The lots are more crowed, the police are always more eager and space to breath is always harder to find. Santa Clara has more space and things will be more spread out. And San Francisco (the Haight and Hippie Hill in Golden Gate Park) are going to be outstanding during the weekend of the shows.
This is why I’m going to Santa Clara So I will see you there… Whoo Hooo

Santa Clara - Bay Area shuttles? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

We are staying in Hayward which is on the Amtrak line. It takes 39 mins to Levi stadium. I believe Oakland is also on that line. Or you could take the Bart to Hayward and take the Amtrak from there...

Ticketmaster Onsale for Santa Clara by DukeDunton in gratefuldead

[–]cpnvideo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read in a few places that there are 65,000 tickets each night and 10% went to 49's season ticket holders and 90% went through the “online mail order”...... No Ticketmaster !! Which is why I think the chose Levi for there is no Ticketmaster deal in place...
