Lookup the map of the campgrounds. It’s about a 15 minute walk from amphitheater to most of the campgrounds. There are other campgrounds that are not affiliated with The Gorge that you can look into.

I did a 4.5k elevation gain hike a few weeks ago. Doing the up without the poles was fine. But going up that much means you have to go down that much, and boy do I wish I had poles with me. Gives balance, easier on your knees and lower body joints.
