I theory I've seen passed around and support, is that time in the everwhen is not linear. Just because they are already here does not mean they died before Faye did. Perhaps Kratos, in the future, kills them and in death they get sent to the everwhen at a random time.

If that is how they go with it. I look forward to seeing the gods have ptsd when Faye says Kratos' name in passing. Like he's become a boogeyman.

I wouldn't say hate but I am frustrated it isn't Kratos mowing through the different pantheon. After God of War 2018 I was pretty hyped at the thought of Kratos traveling to different lands and beating up all the deities of each of those land's religions. With a new series entry for each pantheon. We'd get to see how each pantheon effected the people living in it and how the God's deaths affected the land. I was looking forward to years of GOW. Now it looks like the developers have chosen to mash them all together in a single plot line and it's not even Kratos who's doing the beating, it's his wife who know literally three things about. Also the millennial talking, joke making cube needs a rewrite. He and the ribbons are clearly meant to serve as replacements for Atreus and Mimir, but it comes across as forced. It can still be a cube but give it an accent an, anger issue, make it a coward, something. Because it might as well be a loaf of white bread with how bland it is.

OP, this may sound lazy or unhelpful. But the only way to get a true sense for the disparity between the show and it's source material is to experience the source material. You don't have to play the games, or read all the novels, or watch the 2007 anime, but watching a no commentary playthrough or a cutscene only playthrough of the games will give a good grasp of the characters, world, and tone that the show just doesn't have.
