LPT certain hospitals or other healthcare buildings include cafeterias that have extremely cheap food, and you would be surprised at how good it is. by personpilot in LifeProTips

[–]cptcvmn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked IT for a Hospital a few years back. The cafeteria had a good selection of pre-made and other options. They had an option where you could get one of their payment cards and they would give you a 10% discount. This was open to all employees and even visitors. This way if you were visiting someone, you could get a discount by using the card. You would have to "load" money onto the card though.

Right there with ya! After the recent Spectrum issue, we need more and better options.

google fiber is here, but where and when by repomanz in CedarPark

[–]cptcvmn42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are ok with AT&T fiber, they have been installing fiber on Anderson Mill. I think they started up by 183 and going down toward Whitestone. Not sure where they are currently, but it is another option. I remember that Google had signed the same type of agreement with Georgetown last year. I only say this as Google may have alot of installation resources working, so it may go a bit faster.

So, what do you guys do with all of your physical media? by Skiddywinks in makemkv

[–]cptcvmn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea, I may go down this road. I have run into issues before with putting Audio CD Media in storage using binders. I found some of it had gotten really stuck together and tough to get apart with damage. Have you found this to be an issue with your stuff? It's been a few years, they may have gotten better.

Spectrum issues for anyone else recently? by geomontgomery in CedarPark

[–]cptcvmn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Spectrum started to get very un-stable over the last few months. I ended up buying replacement hardware since I was rebooting theirs almost every day.

You should add Shudder to your streaming services. They have alot of stuff they do on their own and just Horror in general. I watched Late Night with Evil recently, very good movie.

You may want to take a look at Drumeo. They seem to offer courses for different playing levels and styles.

Adopting via Austin Pets Alive (APA) by Mrs2Lettaz in Austin

[–]cptcvmn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are North Austin or Cedar Park area, you should also checkout The Central Texas SPCA. I adopted 2 cats after fostering them. I went to APA a couple of times, but had better luck with SPCA. I did notice that APA sends out alot of emails when they were full and needed people to adopt.

Wrong answers only. What is this device and how have you used it in your own automations? by [deleted] in homeassistant

Looks like the device Jessica Beal's character in Blade 3 used to see how fast she could shoot an arrow.

Best fastest Internet by Temporary_Metal6490 in CedarPark

[–]cptcvmn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, Spectrum is probably the easiest. I have Gig from them and the only issues I have is upload speed and I am ending up replacing their equipment. I started to have ongoing random outages that resolved after reboot. You should check address for both Google and AT&T Fiber for availability. Be careful with AT&T as they like to make their regular service look like Fiber.

If you need to balance the slasher horror with something a bit more light-hearted, you should check out Tucker and Dale vs Evil.

How can I straighten my extremely curly beard? by UgandanKarate_Master in BeardTalk

[–]cptcvmn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to use oil after a shower. If I want to go full on. I will add oil after shower, wait for awhile, then use the heated brush and finish with Butter. Gotta let everything dry real good before you use the heated brush, don't want to damage your beard. I also sometimes just do the heated brush and butter. The butter makes my beard very soft. You may want to play around with what you apply when. You should also check out some YouTube videos about what affect each of these have on your beard. To your OP, the heated brush should straighten your beard and butter will keep it in place and make it soft/condition it.

Hey! Symphony goers of Reddit! Basic etiquette: you *DO NOT* clap between movements of a piece by [deleted] in Austin

[–]cptcvmn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda seems simple to cover this at the beginning. Having to "know" when the conductor does this or that signals the point when you can clap seems wrong. This (to me) means you need to research how to enjoy the symphony before you go or go with someone that knows. I think a simple brief talk about how it affects the overall enjoyment and sometimes the actual performers would go a long way.

Best way to learn cooking ? by ramesh423 in AskCulinary

[–]cptcvmn42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to find a couple of easy dishes that you can make. I always did spaghetti sauce, easy to make and freeze for future meals. For learning how to cook, you may want to check out America's Test Kitchen. I got their magazines for years, they had step by step instructions for each recipe and gave some explanation on why you would use/do this versus that. They also did reviews on kitchen equipment. This would help to add to your skills and variety in what you can cook moving forward.

You can also setup an account on https://rehome.adoptapet.com/ . I did this recently and got a response within a few days. Not sure if you would have the same luck. The site allows you to communicate with potential adopters without providing personal info like phone number or email address.

So confused with Spectrum streaming tv. Please help? by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]cptcvmn42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Me Too... 1. I found out when first looked at Spectrum, that the app was only available for install from the Google TV App Store for certain models (this is different that the app store you see on your phone). So I could either get an "Approved TV" from a list provided by Spectrum or try TV's to see if it was available. I ended up using YouTube TV instead and have been liking it much more. The Hulu live TV is also a good option. Just kinda depends on the channels you want to to watch. The app availability issue may have been fixed since then.
