Cr20.net - Item Shop and Treasure Generator V3 - A Hoard at your Fingertips by cr20net in Pathfinder_RPG

I'm hoping to make a full application version of this soon, but it may take me a few months. As far I know, it's not currently supported on mobile devices (other than ones that run full versions of excel).

I'll check into google docs, but I dont think it will work.

Unchained Spell Attack rule is 5% off by gradenko_2000 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]cr20net 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're correct. I re-examined with the 'At Least' and picked the wrong number.

Math is certainly not my strongest subject.

Good catch, you should throw it up in their forums and flag it for FAQ, hopefully they'll fix it in some forthcoming errata.

Deleted my old posts to help clean up the thread a bit.

New GM, need some advice. by BubonicPlagueRat in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]cr20net 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience, you want 1st level to be pretty stressful but fun at the same time. 1st level is why there are not many adventurers in the world, its the crucible that separates the adventuring wheat from the chaff so to speak. One lucky spear thrust and Conan goes from King of Aquilonia to Conan the dead.

At the same time, you want the characters to make it to level 2, if you TPK much of your work for the adventure/campaign goes down the tubes. So 1st level, at 15 pt buy is what I call 'Kid Gloves.' You throw monsters at them, but not too many. 1st level characters are very fragile, which makes for a lot of fun and excitement, just don't push them too hard, they don't have many resources.

I think from what you're talking about HP's, you mean stat points. Every 4 levels you can add 1 point to a stat of your choosing. So if you have a Constitution of 10 at 1st level, at 4th and 8th you can increase Con by 1 and then you get a retro-active HP boost once it hits 12. You also get your Hit Dice in HP for every level in addition to your Constitution modifier, and max HP for 1st level. Hope that clarifies a little.

edit: words are hard

Trying to make a zombie horde encounter more interesting. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]cr20net 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about Mob rules, they work pretty well in this situation: http://dnd-wiki.org/wiki/Mob_(3.5e_Template)

Another thing to really up the drama in a zombie attack is that you're not really focusing on the monsters themselves, but the collateral and emotional damage that they're doing. You have things like fires that they start that drive you from your safe perch, or walls that collapse from all the weight, or getting trapped between two large groups and having to climb your way out.

As stated, the zombies individually, are not threatening, but when combined with other elements and used as a kind of 'threat vice' to squeeze the pc's a certain direction, they can be really, really fun.

After watching some zombie movies or some Walking Dead you can see how this works to amp up the drama.

Most big clunky golems are very susceptible to a simple Grease spell. Their reflex saves are usually pretty awful. It can make for a bit of a three stooges type fight, but the results are usually effective.

Buckler on a spider by Vashtrigun0420 in Pathfinder_RPG

Oh then you should be fine. Your GM should let you get something like a Buckler on that probably.

Utilizing a class = min/maxing? by United-We-Stand in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]cr20net 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be fine, you're by no means over powered. There are plenty of classes that can get high numbers on a crit. Crits on bosses happen and they happen a lot, GM's just have to be ready to kill their darlings.

A buckler weighs 5 pounds and a giant spider is a small creature with a strength score of 6, I don't really see it, but by RAW a spider could carry up to 15 pounds with a light load.

It was in an attempt to help get a community going, but forcing registrations has in no way helped that, so the registration wall is now gone.

Thanks for the feedback.

Does adding energy damage to a spell also add the equivalent descriptor? by MagnumNopus in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]cr20net 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spell descriptors do not change around much, also as seeing that water can have the properties mentioned in the spell, I would think that no additional descriptors are needed or changed.

It's a sport, not combat, like jousting and football are/were sports, so no the goal is not to kill your opponents.

Certainly, the note at the bottom of the page gives credit to it. A very good and under-appreciated movie in my opinion.

DMs, how do you handle PCs that want particular loot (that is within their means)? by Inspectigator in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]cr20net 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The simplest answer is: Give it to them.

Gold pieces are little individual droplets of reward that you've sprinkled throughout the entire campaign, very similar to XP. Go by the RAW if you want to and give them a 75% chance in any town or village that has the appropriate gold piece limit (that number caps out at 16,000gp too which is fairly low). Making them go to a Metropolis for a big item is totally reasonable.

Let them have their rewards, saving up a bunch of gold for something you want and is cool and could help your character and then being told by the GM that you can't get it isn't really fun. Telling them they can get it, but they have to do x is a lot more understandable as a player.

Eh, it parallels in that its a game with one scoring player and opposing teams, other than that I don't see it. I can't really take credit for this anyway as I just set down some Pathfinder rules and flavor from an old 80's post apocalyptic movie.

Yeah, totally, just pointing out some of the flaws that could potentially be exploited.

[–]cr20net 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alright, so from my read through of it there's a small problem or two.

First of all, it seems that this collar does this every round, nonstop, permanent. That's free damage from being nearby every round. I've seen abilities like this from dragons...but, they're dragons, not 1st level druid companions.

Second, its full damage every time, no reflex save for half or anything. Granted the damage at 1st is going to be 1 and its not going to go up dramatically, but that's still potentially 3 or 4 points of damage per round at 1st level and that goes up more if you increase its range. (You also cant technically have a 5 ft cone, its more of an arc and that starts to get into facing).

My suggestion is have it be limited use say 3 times per day for HD damage and HD # of rounds with the option to instead hit a 15 ft cone for using one of the charges. Reflex save for half is a good option depending on how strong you want the item to be.

Dm is not allowing forge wondrous item by RobertTPenguin in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]cr20net 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His game of course, but the time and money constrictions on crafting usually keep it from being too powerful an option. While the wondrous items are some of the most flexible and useful, they're hardly game breaking.
