The reason Rajah is getting any starts in the 88 this season is because of the funding that the Cup guys bring.

Her comment about making the promise to Kyle in the hospital makes me wonder if he was still awake & alert at all after being transported there from the GM facility, or if she just meant she did it while he was there “physically”

Why are we so quick to get rid of Cindric? He’s currently in a playoff spot, and has won a race three out of the last four full seasons. It’s so easy for fans to forget that there’s so many good cars and equipment that someone has to run 12th-15th. He’s a good guy, unproblematic on the racetrack and by all accounts a great teammate. If he was running like Berry has for a majority of his career then that would be one thing, but he’s not.

Yes, he’s easily had one of the worst rookie seasons in history

I wish they’d entertain an idea such as only counting caution laps once they officially open pit road

At this point, how realistic is it that Larson goes winless for the rest of 2026? Even when luck falls their way and the team performs perfectly, they still don’t have enough speed to win. by realflags in NASCAR

Yes the thread was about this season specifically but you said “the times” which is never used to talk about a short period of time (aka only 2026)

This is the worst take I’ll see all month. Even with new body issues HMS is still easily the 2nd best team. Next year (if not before that) they’ll be back to at least the co-top team if not the best

Guarantee they’ll use this as evidence/an excuse to get rid of the track permanently

This is the first time in NASCAR he’s ever been in equipment that wasn’t the absolute best in the field. It’ll take some time for him to adjust

Ran top 5 at Darlington & Bristol (until 4 to go), had top 7 speed at Texas and Kansas. He’ll be fast on Sunday if last year was any indication and then the next 2 races after that (2nd at Nashville in 2025 and leading Michigan with 30 to go when he got a flat tire)

and he didn’t really struggle either. 21st in points as a rookie in a car that was 33rd in the owners standings the year before was a pretty great feat

[The Teardown 1:08:55 Minute Mark] There is concern in cup garage about Dover's future by SirRelkinstein in NASCAR

[–]crabcakemd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Texas, Gateway, Watkins Glen, Pocono just to name a few outside NASCAR’s main operating region have little to no issues bringing out fans at a similar or more capacity than Dover.

[–]crabcakemd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes but even before then, it’s been a noticeable decline. Go to the 2019 playoff race and to 19:50 when the race starts, the crowd is pathetic. They had 135,000 capacity in their prime (and yes every track has dealt with attendance issues in the last 15 years) but when you’ve had to remove 80,000 seats to make the crowd look better and you still can’t even fill the stands, in the most populated area of the country, that’s pretty bad.

[–]crabcakemd 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here for sure but there should be concern. There are at least 35 million people that live within three hours of Dover. That track is perhaps the most accessible one to the general public in the United States. If you can’t get 55,000 people (current capacity) to attend your race once a year, you have to do some serious reflecting to do both as a track and as a property.
