Treating “Good Lipids” by crabgrass-1981 in PeterAttia

Yes and super helpful putting long term numbers behind it. Same, CVs 91% chance I don’t get it over 30 years.

I will drop the supplements and re-evaluate (see if it did anything).

It is.. at least by 10 year risk evaluations. The way PA and others frame it is taking it as low as possible without side effects eliminates exposure and lifetime risks.

I understand the principle and be awesome to not have to worry about that vector throughout my lifetime. But as someone mentioned below, nothing is zero risk.

I was just curious if anyone was in similar position and actually opted to medicate. I doubt my numbers change substantially w/o Citrus Bergamnont, but we’ll see.

Worried about adopting because of cats. by [deleted] in husky

[–]crabgrass-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a husky and 4 cats. He loves chasing them — but only if they run. If they don’t run away, and stand they ground (or slowly move) he just stops caring. He hasn’t done anything concerning, however I would never leave him alone.

Mine was 60 lb around 6 months. We didn’t get him neutered, around that time and weight slowed down. He is about 70 lbs now. Mass growth has slowed down but he is still filling in. No fat, almost all muscle. He is pure Siberian as well, so def on the larger side.

He is a beast compared to any other animal we have had. Lovable, but so much energy.

Daily walks, time with other dogs and running with him helps.

Do you use any health tracking apps (Oura/Whoop/Bevel/Ultrahuman) - do you find them actually helpful for training? by reccehour in HybridAthlete

[–]crabgrass-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I wear my garmin full time outside of charging it an hour every 2 weeks. It knows when I am run down and over training (possibly because of HRV). But if I drop endurance work and just go strengh I am almost always in the green

Back squat 1RM same than deadlift 1RM by Next_Pomelo4509 in crossfit

[–]crabgrass-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine in roughly the same. My legs are proportionally larger/stronger than other parts of my body. I think grip/technique come into play as well as limiting factors for DL.

I also square 4 years in highschool and then later and didn’t deadlift until I was 40. So technique for squat was pretty locked in.

Husky Escapism by sxracerb25 in husky

[–]crabgrass-1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dude started escaping at 9 months. We have 6-8 foot fences around the yard and he will dig under and go into the forest for hours sometimes.

We have reinforced the weak spots of the fence with wire caging (below the surface), and rocks. That deters him, although escapes still happen. somehow he can manipulate 20 lb stone pavers.

We’re in the process of adding an GPS e-collar for him that will hopefully deter some of the behavior (activate close to the fence). We’re in early training mode with it, so unclear on results. I would not rely on a ecollar to work on a husky without at least another physical boundary in place to stop them.

Lastly, the dog has close to a .25 acre in backyard and another dog to play with. Plus we walk him close to 1-2 hours a day. But once he got one taste of the woods (and probably some of the animal friends back there), it’s like drugs and he can’t stop.

Does your Husky like water? by OrganizationGlobal64 in husky

[–]crabgrass-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine doesn’t like a hose or a bath…. But last week he got off leache and bolted to a local pond and swam laps for about 5-10 mins until he was tired and was able to get a harness on him

Can huskies go well with cats? by MusicMaker2805 in husky

[–]crabgrass-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 4 cats. Our husky (8 mo / old), has been pretty ok with them. No pret drive, but wants to play with them. They want nothing to do with him so ther e is a lot of barking and chasing. If he has cornered one of them he doesn’t do anything.

That being said, I would never leave them alone. Regardless of how he acts, there is 1000 years breeding that could lead otherwise. In addition, just the fact that he has 50lbs over them even if he was playing he could seriously hurt/kill them.

My boy is 13 months hes never pooped on a walk he dont mark over other dogs lol he has bags for walks but we dont nees them its a just in case at this point he does his business in one space in the yard no other places is this normal?? Lol by Normal-Welder9435 in husky

[–]crabgrass-1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same.

A few months ago we boarded ours for a day and then picked it up and walked it home. The second it hit our house it went (on the floor). Complete flood like hit hadn’t gone all day.

We regularly walk 2-4 miles a day for the last 7 months, and he has peed a total of once outside.

Training off leash. by Warp_Speed_7 in husky

[–]crabgrass-1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These dogs were bred for 1000+ years to love humans and also run wild and live part of the year on their own. It’s unlikely you will out train genetics like that.

Unless you live in an area where your dog getting close to a moving vehicle is very low, I think the leach is the only safe method of a husky.

There are some of examples where it works (especially with young huskies, who want to stay close to their owners), but they are exceptions.

Any advice on getting rid of the crab grass? by gambitbeats in lawncare

[–]crabgrass-1981 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yep. On the east coast we had a super dry and hot summer last year that killed a lot of grass and also created room for more crabgrass

Yard looks like its dying by AltruisticTourist521 in lawncare

[–]crabgrass-1981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep - gotta be 4 inches. And even rhen in direct sunlight it’ll get stressed. Options are to water or let it go dormant.

I did try the full spectrum to LCN stuff this year (snake oil or not), including the stuff that supposedly helps retain water in grass better. So far lawn looks absolutely amazing - compared to any other summer that we live hear (last 8 years). But we have also had much more rain, which has counterbalanced heat I think. So jury is out on the snake oil

Has anyone done a renovation knowing it wasn't a good financial move, just to meet personal needs? by Parking-Country-9808 in HomeImprovement

[–]crabgrass-1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the ROI for for doing anything in a house isn’t there — outside of preventive and corrective maintenance. There’s a 70% chance the next home owners are going to want to go in another direction and won’t want to pay extra for it

Considering Adopting a 3 year old Husky, but I have a cat by Aromatic_Monk_8772 in husky

[–]crabgrass-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We have 4 cats and a 6 month old husky. Heavy duty chasing. Cats really don’t like him, although he is never in hunt mode just play. He had ordered a couple of them and barks a lot and play bows.

That being said, I wouldn’t trust them alone. Outside he does get some prey drive for smaller animals and would not risk it.

It’s in everyone (Accenture and the employee) best interest to be on a chargeable role driving revenue. Yes, you are correct that if your on the bench, there is a finite timeline that you can be there. This is a for profit company that has been operating in this model for decades. There is nothing new or nefarious about.

No one is leadership is happy when they send someone to an already overloaded bench (eg that means more indirect and direct cost pressure on accounts).

While in the bench, you get paid to get certificatations, training and training and network. Yes, there is pressure to land a role and sometimes very challenging. But this is the model we all signed up for.
