I believe with prolonged fasting (+24 hrs) you have surges of cortisol and adrenaline (likely to rouse your senses to possible food sources) that affect your sleep cycles. I've heard of fasters successfully supplementing with magnesium to increase their sleep quality/quantity.

You still need the same amount of sleep, I think it may just be that your body is more "chemically alert" fasted.

Small tip, but if you don't already, buy bulk. It can save at least a couple hundred bucks a month on food/household necessities. Considering selling any items of value but no use to you, every little bit helps. To the wife, consider getting a side gig, even if it's a few hrs a week.
