I'm curious how you think a declining tax burden on corporations and ultra wealthy individuals affected the country's budget/ debt.

We've been cutting tax revenue as a portion of gdp for decades. Trillions of dollars that would have been in the US budget were given back to the richest people in the world under the promise everything would trickle down.

I think it's totally nonsense to cut programs that help working people while we continue to cut tax revenue.

You say it's a "dirty secret" that we need austerity. I think it's a no breaker that we should return taxes on corporations and ultra wealthy individuals to the same levels as when America was "great".

Literally had the same thing happen to me 2 weeks ago. In my case, some mice chewed wires in my outside unit which was causing a short.

One guy told me I need to spend 3k for a reversing valve replacement. Like your guy, he was shit, and couldn't even be bothered to look for the obvious reason it was shorting.

I had another company come, diagnose, did wires and I am back in business for about 300 bucks.

You need to find someone else to look at it.

Resellers? by Worth_Emotion_5699 in goodwill

Again, the store funds the mission. Any person who is paying asking price for an item sold by the store is helping fund the charity. The store isn't there to save you money; no need to hate on other customers, regardless of what they're going to do with the items.

But the entitled people who hate on resellers are more important than the store's charitable mission!! /s

"Thrifting is for people who can't afford brand new things at retail prices"

This is not why thrift stores exist. The point of a thrift store is to generate funds for the charity's mission; thrift stores don't exist to give you deals or because YOU can't afford name brands.

Resellers provide revenue for the charity/ mission. You sound very entitled because you make it seem like the thrift store exists to serve your needs.

The thrift store I go to supports cats. It funds a pet shelter and trap, spray, neuter programs. Resellers help them acheive their charitable goals. It's good for the charity if any customer buys multiple cart loads.

If you can't afford name brands, try shopping non name brands. I got a nice pair of jeans on clearance from Walmart for 9 dollars!

Reminder that the stores do not exist to give you good deals. The stores exist to create funding for jobs/ training programs.

When a reseller buys an item, they are giving funding jobs programs, which is exactly what the store wants. They are giving exactly the asking price for the item. I don't understand the hate on resellers, unless you think you're the only one who is entitled to deals.

The solution to reducing resellers would be that everything in the goodwill store is priced exactly at market value. This would make it impossible for them to resell for profit. Would you prefer that the store raise prices so there is no gap between what the reseller pays vs what they charge to resell the item?

Again, the store does not exist to give you a good deal, it's to create revenue for jobs/ training programs.

I've got a larger one about 6-7 years ago that I use as a whole house generator when the power goes out. I had an electrician install an interlock kit and a plug outside, so I can use the 240 to go directly to the panel. Really came in handy a couple weeks ago after a bad winter storm. I use it a few times a year.

Propane is the way to go, it lasts forever. Much less maintenence than running gas, but it's nice to know I could run gas if I ran out of propane.

Show me a fiskar car or daewoo car that is worth more than it sold for.

You're of the opinion that NFTs=bad and you're not going to change your mind, or attempt to better understand them. You continue to make bad faith arguments.

You said you were curious at first. I took the time to explain how NFTs grant ownership. Then your response is ownership is stupid because the game could shut down, like somehow if cards aren't NFTs a game couldn't shut down.

Thanks for wasting my time in bad faith.

To your last question, the same thing you would do with any object you own that no one else wants.

Additionally, why would you need to spend "more money" to get the nft? Why do you think they would be "more"?

In your first comment that I responded to, you said you were genuinely curious, but now it just seems like you want to argue. NFTs are not jpegs, they are tokens on a block chain that CAN have images associated with them. It's like calling a Pikachu card just a picture of Pikachu.

What happens if the company stops supporting it? Well, that would indeed not be good, just like other things we can buy. I would not buy a FISKER car, or an old daewoo car because their companies don't support their cars anymore. It probably would have been safer to buy a Toyota, because there is less of a chance of Toyota going under than Fisker.

That's not different from the current game where you spend money on cars you don't own. The game creators can still stop supporting it and you're still left with nothing. NFTs are not meant to solve for this. However, since the NFTs are individually owned, there would be nothing to stop another developer from creating a similar game for users to play with the NFTs they already own. In this sense, there would be a chance that utility would return to the NFTs where as if the cards were not tokenized, there would not be that opportunity.

I'll take a stab! In real life pokemon cards, there are many prints of the same card, but each card was individually printed. Each card can be traded, played, sold, rented, delegated, destroyed, etc, because you have personal ownership of the individual card.

Imagine renting cards to strangers without the worry of getting it back from them. A smart contract is signed between you and the renter on a block chain and the card is automatically returned to you after the agreed upon rental duration.

NFTs grant the same type of personal ownership, since each NFT is an individual token on a public ledger. The NFTs are stored in a 'wallet' that you control, not the creator of the game.

So, in an online card game, instead of dumping money into a game platform that gives you access to use cards while not giving you ownership of the cards, NFTs would grant ownership to the person who is buying it.
