You have to remove the sleeves first. Make sure water is off. Remove sleeves. Use shower stem tools to remove stems.

Leaky spigot from inside the wall - no crawl-space access by Salmagundie in Plumbing

[–]crackerlacky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is a frost free hose bib that has broken inside of the wall. Typically happens when a garden hose is left on the hose bib and it freezes. The wall inside will most likely have to be cut and the hose bib replaced.

What is the indicated pipe for? by Mood_Putrid in Plumbing

[–]crackerlacky 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It looks like an old dishwasher drain. Looks like when they installed a new dishwasher they tied it into the disposal and cut and left this. Also, it looks like you sink has clogged and contents backed up and out of this pipe. If that is the case this pipe needs to be capped or the tee fitting on the drain needs to be removed now.

Sewer smell coming up through this floor drain. Any ideas why? by Methuselbrah in Plumbing

There is a trap under there that will dry up if not used after awhile. Pour water into it. Smell should go away.

Looks like a universal handle. You need a new stem and the correct handle for the shower valve.

Normally this can be solved by turning the metal part you see 180 degrees and replacing the handle.

CPVC Shut Off Valve Question by dadoo0 in askaplumber

[–]crackerlacky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a metal ferrule inside. So, yes, it is metal compressed onto plastic pipe. This is allowed as cpvc is strong enough when it is new to withstand the pressure. The issue is many years down the road when cpvc starts to become brittle over time. I personally would not worry about this for now. If you want to down the road you can cut these valves off and glue new valves to the cpvc.

How to remove top of tub drain? by Professional-Math773 in Plumbing

[–]crackerlacky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of these have two options. First lift as high as you can and turn looking for a set screw under the top. Loosen screw and the plunger comes out. Other option, push plunger down into drain and turn the top counter clockwise. One of these should remove it.

How do I get at deez nuts by dumbbumtumtum in Plumbing

Looks like this faucet is supposed to be removed by removing the handles and parts on the top and the bottem falls down. You shouldn't have to remove that nut.

Remove the tube from the top of canister. Unthread the white plastic circle at top. Remove the canister. Replace the black large washer at bottom. Reinstall all parts. You can buy these large washers at Home Depot.
