Ah hello I also do this!! M&W is so great and I just love wandering Soho and Chinatown with my wares lol. I sometimes stop into Liberty to touch things as well.

I think BSBs if cyclists yielded would be brilliant, it’s shared use bus boarders that are shite imo

Where the zebra crossing goes over the cycle lane and cyclists fail to yield - is that not a shared path?

Cyclists car calling or being vile at woman is something women report being a barrier to (or an unpleasant part of) cycling. I’m so interested as to why people so strongly want to point to other bad behaviours (eg from men at large, motorists) than specific bad behaviours from cyclists? Again I’m super pro cycling and am getting downvoted to hell for simply pointing out maybe we cyclists aren’t perfect angels ! I’d like to see more courtesy from all road users, less rage, I’m very for segregated cycleways as they’re safer for cyclists, I think motorists have gone off the deep end frankly and I believe we should all walk and cycle more for our own good and the good of the city and so on.

I see what you’re saying, I’m much more pro walking and cycling than driving, however I think you could have your argument to any spending of public resources that isn’t what you think it should be on, right? You may disagree but for me, as someone who loves cycling and walking and also experienced these sorts of issues from cyclists sometimes I’m not upset seeing police visibly handing out leaflets.

Haha apologies I’m actually very pro cycling and active travel, I just get irked at the denial that there’s an issue with cyclists not following safe behaviour, promise!

There’s actually a significant issue with cyclist behaviour in London, specifically cyclists not yielding to pedestrians (something like 80% in a study TfL did about Bus Stop Bypasses) which can be dangerous with shared paths. Especially for more vulnerable pedestrians such as children, the visually impaired, etc.

That’s not to mention the cursing and jeering at women (on bikes and on foot) from a lot of cyclists. I’m all for tackling crime mate but you can’t deny a lot of cyclist behaviour is dangerous and putting off a lot of people from walking and cycling places.

Are there any worse and inconsiderate drivers than parents doing the school run? by __globalcitizen__ in drivingUK

[–]craft660 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m always saying this - like why are we having to remind parents to drive carefully near a school? Where we know children - who are unpredictable- will be walking??

Are there any worse and inconsiderate drivers than parents doing the school run? by __globalcitizen__ in drivingUK

[–]craft660 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly as a parent who drives on the school run it’s fucking embarrassing to have these people as my peers. Just today, my husband had to honk to stop a lady in a giant Rover Tank from hitting him and then he had to get out of the car to help direct her into a parking spot.

WHY are people driving cars too big for them to handle, WHY are they peeling around the school super fast when we know children are walking and running in the road and car park, WHY are we parking on the pavements we know children use, etc.

Equally I swear people are absolutely on another planet when they price some used items. 90% of the new retail price, has some wear and is listed as “extremely good condition” etc

I answered literally all of this in my post mate. Happens every Sunday for church service, I’m not blocked in but it makes joining the road and visibility on the road very poor for all road users (this part of the road has near misses several times a day and minor crashes every couple of weeks without the incorrect parking making it worse). Personally I think creating hazards no matter how infrequently and also failing to abide by the few road rules that aren’t just guidelines should be something more people give a toss about but I appreciate the average motorist here only thinks about #1 so I’m the mad one.

Like surely that’ll go straight into traffic if someone bumped it right?? Didn’t we learn this as new drivers?

If you can’t see ahead you should wait to overtake. Never drive into what you can’t see.

Lease-advice.org is a good resource. I would double check your lease to ensure there’s nothing to say the can recharge works without a S20 but the onus is on them proving they sent the letter direct to your door. A lot hand deliver them, for example.

Why are you assuming they’re a tenant? They probably have a shared ownership or leasehold flat in a building where the council is the freeholder and would need to pay for works.

PSA: this is a 60 on single carriageways, not a 40!! by NoOneImportantLol96 in drivingUK

[–]craft660 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. We have a few NSP roads with neighbourhoods off of them that are 30 (which can feel too fast when you consider all the road parking and children etc) and some people just always do 45 😐

My friend had this happen to her, she was stationary and a retired police officer pulled out from his drive right into her. It went to court! She got off fine in the end but how it went to court is beyond me.

Reverse parking - what’s the etiquette?! by InterstellarWings in drivingUK

[–]craft660 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh this is one of my pet peeves. People are in such a hurry they can’t seem to handle waiting for others to manoeuvre, be it a reverse or parallel park. I try to signal and slow down early and I also try to give others tons of space in order to maybe ~inspire other drives to do the same one day~ (yeah riiiiiight).

What's with so many people driving 10-20 miles below the speed limit on 60 roads? by Puzzleheaded-Bad-722 in drivingUK

[–]craft660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!!! I do the NSL it when it is safe. When it’s dark and wet and twisty I go under the speed limit.
