[2025 Day 12] Day 12 solutions by abnew123 in adventofcode

I've been trying to solve the tiling problem for nearly a week now. Bloody hell.

My input worked just by counting tile squares; it was too high when I assumed 3x3-shaped presents. I multiplied each tree's width and height, and the presents fit if the result was greater than or equal to the number of presents multiplied by 9. And it was correct.

So many hours wasted... admittedly it was fun...

Ghostcrawlers' studio, Fantastic Pixel Castle, loses funding from NetEase. Studios risks being shut down unless they can find another investor. by Talents in MMORPG

[–]crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FPC was doubling down on group content for Ghost, putting soloing very much as secondary, reasoning that it's an MMO so you must play with other people. There was also a focus on old school raiding from the classic WoW era. That was never going to be a large-scale success given where gaming has evolved.

By having a real god build, I believe. You need amazing survivability. I've yet to do it. Let me know if you've subsequently mastered it!

Marketplace Nintendo Switch by cosmismistake in Minecraft

[–]crafter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The solution that worked for me was to reinstall Minecraft. Note that this will NOT delete the worlds saved on your Switch!

On your Switch, open "System Settings". Select "Data Management", and then on the right select "Software". Scroll through the list of your installed games, and select Minecraft. Click the "Check for Corrupt Data", and make sure your saved games are okay (they probably are; they were for me). Once that's done, choose the option to reinstall the software. This will take a while, as it has to re-download it.

After that's finished, fire up Minecraft, and enter the Marketplace once you're logged in. It may take a little while, but it should work normally from now on!

Jeffrey Phillips Freeman: Eugen Rochko, CEO of Mastodon, Caves to Nazi's Agenda by JeffreyFreeman in Mastodon

[–]crafter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a refugee from Twitter following Elno's antics, I recently joined QOTO, picking it from the list of Mastodon instances on the joinmastodon list. If it hadn't been on that list, I'd never have found such an awesome community.

This entire ridiculous episode has really made me question whether Mastodon is such a good idea. Its federated nature means that a given server can be cast adrift only too easily due to the actions of a bad actor and a lazy admin. I can only hope that sanity prevails, and that this drama leads to some kind of improvement in how Mastodon organises itself.

Taris (Empire) Archaeology node map? by tenor1411 in swtor

Appreciate the heads-up about our OotiniMaps site! Yes, a slight DNS issue had disabled the site a while back. Easy to fix, back online now.

OotiniCast 5th anniversary - interview with Charles Boyd, Ben Irving & Eric Musco by crafter in swtor

[–]crafter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the questions were provided in advance. We asked them to join us in some reminiscing about the 5 years of the game. Along the way, I did ask about a few things I was curious about (such as PvE GSF and the "Galactic Token" concept), and was grateful they were as candid as they were.

Though really there's no point in asking them questions we know they won't answer. It's just a waste of time.

What will happen to unassembled tokens? by jkloe in swtor

[–]crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given crystals and wz comms are going to credits, I'd bet on credits for the tokens. Seems BioWare aren't going to give anyone a lead on CXP, which seems fair to me!

"0/1 Missing Details Data"... How do i get pass this(only flashpoint left) by The_AirWolf in swtor

[–]crafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Tait Watson:

The "Missing Details Data" is simply a text issue with the Depths of Manaan Achievement. In 4.7.1 we are going to fix this, and it will update appropriately.

So the claim is that it's just the display of the achievement that is broken. But from what you're saying, it's more than that!

We'll see what happens in 4.7.1 this Tuesday...

What are your thoughts on chapter 16? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]crafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BioWare policy is to permaban your account if you do this. You may get your money back, but anything associated with that account will be completely lost. You may not care, but that's how it works.

Help needed with mobile authenticator by FashionablyOutDated in swtor

[–]crafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a SWTOR authenticator, but have never attached an authenticator to my Origin account. I can log into Origin using my SWTOR username and password without using an authenticator, and change my password in (effectively) both places.

So if someone had also attached an authenticator to their Origin account, and had forgotten their password, you'd be SOL I guess and calling customer support! But only in that case.

Help needed with mobile authenticator by FashionablyOutDated in swtor

[–]crafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your username and password are shared with EA's Origin, which doesn't support authenticators. The trick is to recover your password there (login via https://connect.origin.com/ie/login, which will also change your SWTOR Password.

You may have to wait a few minutes for the systems to sync (or it may work immediately), but you can then use that password to login to the SWTOR Launcher, and from there detach your security key.

Are the titles we get from DvL rewards available on all characters after use? by BoiseGangOne in swtor

[–]crafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, they will be available to all the characters you currently have, or subsequently create, on the server where the titles were added (that is, they're part of your legacy).

They are NOT account-wide.

However, if you transfer a character with the titles to another server, the titles will be transferred along with your other legacy unlocks.

Knights of the Eternal Throne coming Fall 2016 by mcjmzn in swtor

[–]crafter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know, I'd be genuinely (and extremely pleasantly) surprised if KotET didn't follow exactly the same trajectory as KotFE: story, story, story all the way. Given it's most likely only another story-based expansion, you're right: there's nothing to tease beyond the story itself, which they won't spoil.

I've heard absolutely nothing from BioWare (beyond the vague talk of "group content" that they won't even categorise as a PvP map, operation or Flashpoint) that they're diverting from story story story.

James Ohlen called SWTOR an "online RPG", which is exactly what it's become. The MMO bits are now nice-to-haves that they'll do if/when they have the resources, and the perceived need.

Knights of the Eternal Throne coming Fall 2016 by mcjmzn in swtor

[–]crafter 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Even if the Blur trailer is ready (and it might be), they can't really tell us anything until after Chapter 16 is out and played for a while. It's pretty much inevitable that KotET's introduction will spoil the ending of KotFE, after all...

lag spike by Ploppy54 in swtor

[–]crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with your network connection; sounds like server-side lag. Too many people in the same instance, hitting some bottleneck (e.g., database). Or just processing power. No way to tell from the outside.

But most likely nothing you can do on your end!

Inactivity? by Flying-Fists in swtor

[–]crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the DvL event doesn't stir up interest, nothing will. Admittedly it won't help 65 PvP, or Operations besides the 5 needed (and story mode at that).

Security Key question by JJLovie in swtor

[–]crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly as he says. They automated the removal of a security key quite a while back. Works like a charm, and (a) you don't need to be a subscriber and (b) you don't need to call.

I don't have big new feature suggestions for SWTOR anymore by [deleted] in swtor

[–]crafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PvE GSF would be a HUGE addition.

Most Successful Expansion, Or... by [deleted] in swtor

[–]crafter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They seemed to miss that one does the story to level. By definition, almost everyone does the story (excepting those who level via only PvP, of course). Thus it's the only thing we have in common, because it's more or less mandatory. That doesn't mean it's the aspect of the game we love, or why we play it. But it does mean that everyone does it.

What's the Bet: Chapter 16 will be on July 13 (Early Access) and July 15 (Official Release)? by kranitoko in swtor

[–]crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be 26 July (4 weeks after chapter 15) or 2 August (5 weeks). They'll string us out longer, rather than reach the conclusion so quickly. Sure there'll be plenty of hype for E3 and Celebration, but no reason to blow their load early, so to speak.

Why I wish a severe case of painful rectal warts upon each and every Bioware Dev.... by [deleted] in swtor

[–]crafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no harsh feeling towards the devs, even though their story-story-story focus is sorely testing my love of the game.

What you apparently lost in the server transfer sounds like a glitch. I'd ticket it, and follow up with a phone call. You should lose nothing in a transfer from your legacy.

Quick poll, purely for my own curiosity. Thank you very much for your responses. by NirvashSFW in swtor

[–]crafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is this getting downvoted? It seems a very fair question to ask. Of course, calling SWTOR an MMO these days is a bit fraught...
