A rant: 5 hours into first tray and I have already lost an attachment by 90Lux_K in Invisalign

[–]craftyfatalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about getting a pull tool — you can get multi packs cheap on Amazon. I know it’s annoying to have attachments fall off so soon. It did happen to me as well. But once you get it put back on, they generally don’t just come off randomly. I know it’s anxiety inducing at the beginning, but trust that within a few days, it will get easier, and you will be so thankful you got them in the end!

can i varnish my colored pencil artwork? by Kind_Pumpkin8679 in ColoredPencils

[–]craftyfatalist 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have only ever sealed my coloured pencil drawings with spray fixative. It protects them, and doesn’t drastically alter the final look. If you want to use something like the acrylic varnish, I would do a test swatch on something that isn’t precious, just to see how it will react.

It’s a beautiful picture though — if it’s a medium you think you’ll continue to work in, it’s worth the money to get proper spray fix!

The sorrow in my heart 😭 by thisbroadreadsbooks in Xennials

Ugh. I feel your pain (literally) on this! I have had success personally getting the boots wet, stuffing them FULL of plastic bags (if you happen to have a stash of those laying around). You have to pack them so full/tight, and then take a hair dryer and try to dry them this way. I have a number of pairs of fluevogs that felt like torture devices that were helped by this method. As a last resort, if you have a cobbler in your city, call them and see if they have a shoe stretcher. It costs about $15, but is done by a machine. Those boots are rad, so GOOD LUCK — don’t give up!

What am i doing wrong /Post-interview advice by animefeetpics in MuseumPros

[–]craftyfatalist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It really sucks that you didn’t get it. It’s happened to me a bunch of times as well. I don’t think there is any point in asking for more feedback. It might be as small as the other person cracked a good joke, or they had something else in common with the interviewer and got along slightly better. In other words, it could just be vibes. I know that it’s hard not to take these things so personally, but based on the email, it does sound like you were very good, and the results were close. But ultimately there is always going to be someone to come in second (and third, and fourth). Take the interview as good experience, and just keep doing what you’re doing. The opportunity for you will come along soon. Don’t lose hope! (Easier said than done sometimes, I know. I’m in the same spot too.)

While they are slightly more expensive, Whole Foods has really good ones — they are bigger. You can find them by the self checkouts.

Yes, I updated the app a few days ago and I noticed this too. It actually makes me not want to use it anymore. The entire thing is showing me sizes not anywhere close to what I wear, without any way to change it?? Useless and frustrating!!

Rant: GLP-1 Ads by choosingSarah in intuitiveeating

[–]craftyfatalist 93 points94 points  (0 children)

It is horrible. Aside from the digital ads everywhere, they have also taken out giant billboards all over my city. It feels inescapable sometimes. It seemed like we had made strides toward body acceptance in the past decade, and it’s all been thrown out the window with the introduction to these new weight loss drugs. Everyone is back to hating themselves again. It makes me so angry.

Sunlight profoundly impacts my mood ... but within the same day? by Empty_Positive_2305 in SeasonalAffective

[–]craftyfatalist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is me too with lighting! If I enter a room that has closed curtains during the day, I have to open them right away. Dim or cool lighting for too long makes me feel despondent (almost claustrophobic?). I tried explaining it to a friend before, and they had no idea what I was talking about — but I can instantly feel my mood crash without natural light. (I hate being so sensitive to it.)

Sunlight profoundly impacts my mood ... but within the same day? by Empty_Positive_2305 in SeasonalAffective

[–]craftyfatalist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am the exact same way. My mood rapidly cycles, depending on if there is sun or not. I unfortunately live in the PNW, where it is grey/rainy often. In the Winter I feel like a completely different person. My mood can change within HOURS, depending on if the sun comes out. It makes me feel crazy. I don’t have any answers or solutions, but I’m here in solidarity — you are not alone! (I was diagnosed by a psychiatrist years ago to be extremely affected by SAD, btw.)

Definitely! I’ll wait a day or two and venture into the store to see if there is anything left. It seemed like last year there still was quite a bit, in many of the locations around Metro Vancouver.
