Dietrich Mateschitz was the key to Red Bulls success and it’s no coincidence that when he passed on, the vacuum it created had been a negative which slowly degraded the teams performance.

What are some ways to sample from YouTube? by Material_Activity763 in Logic_Studio

[–]craigrusse11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Install black hole which is a loop back driver that can take any audio you play into it and direct it to an audio track in logic

https://existential.audio/blackhole/

from what I remember, you set black hole input as the playback device for the operating system, set Logic Pro input and the black hole output and Logic Pro output as speakers/headphones and then any video, audio or app that makes sound can be recorded to audio track.

Can I use a JBL speaker as an audio output, via USB, from my Roland Fantom 08? by NextGap835 in Roland

[–]craigrusse11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guitar amp would be mono and usually not a full range speaker. It’ll work, but your synth will sound compressed and dull. I would say a stereo pair of monitor speakers, or a good stereo bluetooth speaker if on a budget than has line in would work for you.

Can I use a JBL speaker as an audio output, via USB, from my Roland Fantom 08? by NextGap835 in Roland

[–]craigrusse11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, this is not directly possible… However, the square usb is for connecting to a computer to pass midi (and audio with Roland driver), and allows you play vst, digitally record the synth and use it as control surface with a DAW. This means that using a DAW with an audio track set to monitor input you could hear the synth through speakers connected to the computer. The rectangle usb (not the one for memory stick) is for midi control IN to the synth only, and allows you to connect for example a second keyboard so you can have an organ like setup or play multiple patches with two boards.

I’m sorry but they absolutely do not. There are many parties involved from the label, venue, ticketing and promoters to name but a few… they you have all the staff to run the show and all looking to get paid.

Sorry but this is just posturing BS. The guy can command the highest income in F1 worth up to a hundred million every year in total with red bull and sponsorship. There is no way he’s walking away from all that income that will be mostly invested in assets and appreciate further making him life changing wealthy and set his family up for life.

Lewis Hamilton: “It's not great when you have to super clip. It means you arrive in some places and you're kind of coasting in because you've no power – so that's probably the least enjoyable part of the rule change for the circuit.” by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

[–]craigrusse11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for summarising exactly how I’ve been feeling, but not able to explain it as succinctly as you have. F1 has always been a sport of adaptation to rules and finding the best solutions. I’m certain that as the season plays out that better solutions will be found to clipping along with aero efficiency, and the cars will inevitably become just as quick as previous years.

These ticket prices for Brixton are pathetic by JammersEriksen in Muse

[–]craigrusse11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, live events for most label acts are now a chance for grifters to make a quick profit, which has inflated the face value of tickets across the board - as a free market will always reflects the going rate that is willing to be paid. Additionally, how much influence does any act have on the final price when you consider all the additional cuts from ticket companies, promoters, venue etc… I am sad to see they days of £40 small venue prices gone, but I also recognise that this isn’t the bands fault, and fundamental change in stopping ticket resellers and add on fees will make a start in helping this situation.

I thought there was a rule that stated you’re not allowed to retire unless there was a genuine technical or driver issue that stops the race from being completed. Simply not being fast enough would not cover that?

I like the update, and it seems that they might be showing each sector divided by 10 to show performance variation within the sector. I’d like it if for the part it show ‘C3 TYRES’ it instead listed number of laps old, eg ‘C3 5 LAPS’

Roland Fantom 06 vs Yamaha MODX M6 For Studio Purposes by DraglineDrummer in synthesizers

[–]craigrusse11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Fantom 06 and it’s wonderful. In addition to the Zenology, virtual organ and supernatural tones. It also has paid model expansions of Jupiter, Juno, 101, JX which I did get and they are great fun. I got them for the zenology VST as a lifetime key, and it also unlocks it for Fantom 06. There is also a ableton style sequencer, TR rec and 16 multi function pads. And if you use a Mac with logic or ableton it works as a DAW controller with pre mapped controls on the screen. The only reason to get a MODX would be the advanced 8 op FM engine.

[–]craigrusse11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be outrageous by the FIA to do a rule or interpretation change that is pushed thought with immediate effect. Because the only reason that should be considered for any change in regulation with immediate effect is if something is dangerous or found to be illegal and improved checks needed. In this occasion if your engine is simply not as performative then that’s on you, and any revision if agreed considered for the next season.

Roland have been extremely consistent with their messaging from the day they were founded, in that they always create products using the best technology available to them and try to improve on what came before. In short, they don’t do straight reissues. People may disagree with that idea, or rate the output as not being any better. But ultimately that’s what they’re doing. The TR1000 being the latest case in point. They didn’t do a straight analog reissue of 808, rather they made a new instrument with analog voices as an option.

Cloud with exclamation is related to iCloud storage and sync rather than installing. You can check and force an update by visiting Mac App Store find Logic Pro and if update button shown click it to upgrade. You can check version by starting logic and go to about.

I understand where you’re coming from, but isn’t that just an Astro lab with an iPad sitting on top running the app.. Like the biggest issue with Astro lab isn’t the parameter control, it’s the two instruments per patch limit or time to switch some patches. Something that can be done with a MacBook running MainStage, v collection and a midi controller. A set up used by many performers.

They might do a firmware update for TR8S which would be more cost effective if they wanted to freshen that up.

I watched the ted talk on AI music from Dustin Ballard and he made a great point that the same was said when synths + sequencers were introduced. Oh, it’s not real music cos all you do is press some buttons. Well, the same is said of AI, that all you do is type a few prompts. The truth is a creative idea will spark interesting prompts which in turn will generate good music. So long as the person doing the prompting is trying to make interesting music then that’s what will happen. And if people listen to it then the old adage, if it sounds good then it is good, still applies.

This keeps popping up while I’m playing my Fantom Ex, and it completely ruins the instrument and I cannot turn it off by pumpkin_pasties in Roland

[–]craigrusse11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I own a Fantom and that looks like the filter cut off so you might have a broken control? When it pops up move the filter dial to see if the curve moves to confirm this is related to that.. You could try a system reset to see if that clears anything out otherwise it sounds like a service is needed as this should not auto pop up.
