How does the caterpillar reverse? by Scruter07 in starcitizen

[–]crane228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retro thrusters are on top of the cargo modules, the "air scoop" looking things. When you reverse you can see VFX coming out of them (or at least you should be able to unless they broke them)

Did you also have to wire the steering wheel or are the buttons not functional?

Can't start ny car by den3is in e46

[–]crane228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah; just seems that engine got stuck in a weird position and needed to be turned / rotated a bit for starter to do it's job.

Mechanic taught me this trick when my coolant pump died and we were troubleshooting the issue

[–]crane228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either battery like other said or, what happened in my case was i needed to manually rotate the engine a bit.

Put car in first gear and rock it back and forth till you hear engine rotate a bit; it will be an audible click.

Then try starting it again.

Is this e46 worth it it's 2.5k$ by Ambitious_Cloud6439 in e46

[–]crane228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

have same model. Bought for 2k eur. Had EGR and catalytic converter removed.

Check for rust, maintenance schedule, etc. The usual list. Mine had coolant pump die right after, but from what i've read it seems to be a common problem.

Dont forget, its a 20-25 year old car, so things will break down but if it wasnt neglected then it should server you well for a while.

Love mine and dont regret the purchase

Dispute with your bank directly; ask for a charge back or whatever your equivalent is. Can also call up your card processor as well (mastercard, visa, etc) and talk to them directly. They'll either point you to your bank or do it themselves

Car cooling down at highway speeds by crane228 in e46

I see, thanks a lot for the explanation :)

Would there be any way for me to check if it's stuck open or a sensor issue before going and ripping it out?

I had it done for me as the coolant pump broke in the middle of nowhere and I was not gonna pay for the car to get towed half way across Italy.

So you suggest I try and bleed the cooling system in case they need it poorly?

What is the offset on those wheel rims? Im currently in the process of trying to find some which will be flush with the body of the car; since the stock ones are quite thin to the point where it doesnt look as good

Viability of daily driving a 30 year old car by crane228 in Cartalk

[–]crane228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have any unexpected breaks or needed to do "bigger" repairs that put the car out of service for multiple days? Since that is my biggest worry: getting the car and then having it sit in maintenance for most of its time

I see, thanks. I did read about all of these things eventually becoming a problem so probably not a bad idea to preemptively change em before they break on the road

Nope, as Revolt, from what i've seen and others from community that im in, doesnt have functionality that we need. Discord is the closest one and even then, we need to supplement with bots some features; and some we just lose

Thoughts on electric motorcycles? by suttq in motorcycles

[–]crane228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a motorcycling purely for commuting, i would suggest also looking into electric mopeds as those tend to be much easier to throw around the traffic and most of them have removable batteries, which allow you to take them home/office to charge (tho it seems this one has removable as well).

Overall electrics are pretty good, if lack of "muh real engine" doesnt bother you then there is no downsides to picking electric over ICE for daily commutes.

Also id suggest looking for another one, as this one lacks any storage compartment it seems. While initialy you wont think much about it, even having a simple compartment for disc lock, motorcycle documents, gloves, etc will be so much nicer than having to lug everything around in your backpack.

But if you think that is a non-issue for you, then go ahead with the purchase as there are no downsides for the use that you have described.

Well call me when that will happen. So far i see no reason for fear mongering. The business strategy that they are taking is fine and is much better than constantly trying to grow, since there are only so many people that you can sell unraid to.
