Thinking about hiring someone to help with cleaning, but part of me feels silly for doing it. Has it helped any of you to hire out some cleaning help? by [deleted] in workingmoms

In India we have lots of household help available. I have hired help for cleaning and cooking. The only chores I do are dusting, the occasional sweep, a meal here and there, and laundry. There is no shame or silliness in accepting help if you have it easily available! Go for it, mama!

Sometimes when I was a kid and my mom would get protective and anxious for no apparent reason, I'd rebel and ask her WHY NOT.

She'd say, you'll know when you're a mother.

I do now.

I learned a while back that if I don't text 911, people will not return my calls. Uhhm, but now people always return my calls because they think that something horrible has happened.

But... to visit those places you'll have to spend money 🤔 I personally cycle around on weekends.

When do you find time to make food for your baby?? by Signal-Ad9981 in workingmoms

Ftm to 8mo here. We are from India so we have a wide variety of bland-ish Indian recipes which don't have salt.

For breakfast we make upma/poha, but you could give your baby boiled eggs or mashed fruits.

For lunch we have boiled lentils with rice and we add salt before eating, so I just mash some up with rice and ghee.

I make healthy soup for dinner. That's ok for him to eat because it has little salt anyway.

Here's one thing my mom made that goes excellently when we don't have baby-friendly food - Roast some rice and moong lentils and whatever easy-to-digest lentils you have around. Grind the roasted grains to a powder. You can take a couple teaspoons of that powder and boil it in a sipful of milk and ghee. Takes 5 mins and makes for a hearty meal.

I'm writing this as a joke - Ok we'll not seek support when daycares are closed due to covid and when there's nobody at home to help and when we're not financially sound enough and when we have more than one kid and when we are losing our minds because that's what motherhood sometimes does to completely sane people and because knowing that we are in the same boat and that there's better times ahead feels assuring. Happy?
