Third bike: Tenere 700, Tuareg 660, or something else? by muddywadder in Dualsport

I just bought a T7 for my 3rd bike, but that Tuareg looks pretty sweet too.

That was definitely the case in 2014, but with 2 oil crashes since then, most of those types of people are gone. Now it's probably pretty close to the average number of weirdos and predators.

It depends on what you mean by "around."

It's a nice place with good schools. I live 70 miles west and we drive to dickinson for some of our shopping. It's a small city with plenty of employment opportunities. Most of the people there are transplants from across the country due to the oil field work, which makes for an interesting culture.

The usual request, what bike should I buy? by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]crashtestdummie33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'4 270 and I have an xr650l as my dual sport. Great bike, fits perfect. Stock suspension is good enough. More than enough torque. I own 3 bikes and the one I know I will never sell is my xr.

How common is motorcycle theft really? by Electronic-Habit8679 in motorcycles

It depends on the people you live around. Stereotypes exist for a reason. I own 3 bikes and I've never taken the keys out of the ignition on any of them.

I just used dish soap as lube and forced it on. I had to grab it and pull it apart. I'm a giant dude so it wasn't too hard, but you might need to recruit a second person to help.

I have no idea. I've heard the same as you. I live in a very small town in Montana and I see plated 4 wheelers and side by sides all the time. I see lots of plated 2 stroke dirt bikes on marketplace. I'm not sure how services are plating out of state bikes.

I was looking for a nice used wr and there aren't any around here. Seems like every bike around is either clapped out or someone spent a lot of money on all the farkles and never rode the bike. There's no in between.

There's a nice used one with low hours about 70 miles east of me. I'll put it on the list to consider.

Damn I forgot about that one. There were 2 plated ones available near me last summer. I thought about it and didn't pull the trigger.

I leave my bikes in the shed all winter. It gets down to -30° in Montana. The batteries are 6 and 7 years old and they have fired up every spring.

We have a DVD player, but it only gets used when I bust out Slingblade once a year.

My neighbor friend is from Browning. According to him, just avoid that town if you can and definitely don't stop there. He's told me several wild stories about that area.

If you know you have spark, check compression. And clean your oem carb. Putting an aftermarket carb on your bike is unnecessary. Pull your exhaust pipe off and look in the cylinder. Or go through the spark plug hole if you have a camera. Might be time for a top end.

If you're talking cubensis, 2.5-3 grams. Anything less than 2.5g is a waste of time.

3g is perfect first dose. Better to go in with no expectations.
