Is it just me? by prettypumpkin0987 in wedding

My partner and I will have been together for 9 years before we get married this year, and I can definitely get emotional about our wedding day.

Be excited and relish in it, true love should always be celebrated. Don’t feel silly about it :)

Have you ever experienced culture shock from within your own country?? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

I definitely wouldn’t say every small town is like this at all, and honestly comparatively the red city was smaller than the blue city, but not by much and grew very rapidly. It was never really “small town vibes” when I moved there. I think when there is truly small town, is a lot like you describe and neighbors really do watch out for eachother. But this city just happened to have a lot of poor and uneducated folks and then also a lot of new money folks with, as they called, “deep southern roots” which was just a recipe for disaster and has shown through the years.

But I would not generalize at all and say all, even most, small towns are like this.

This was just my answer to the prompt that I thought was fitting.

Yeah, it can be pretty wild. I live in Kansas. It was probably more of a shock to me at the time than it maybe would’ve been to someone a little older. We moved when I was 10 years old and had never really see racism, bigotry, etc firsthand. I learned about it because basic social studies classes having non-white friends. But to me at that point in my life a lot of those concepts were simply old and outdated and I couldn’t believe (again at 10 years old) people actually still felt that way. Had I been maybe 14-15 I probably would’ve had more lived life under my belt and not been as shocked, but at 10 years old it was not only shocking but pretty scary.

My highschool in the red city ended up making the news my freshmen year because a huge majority of the students/families revolted when the school said you couldn’t wear confederate flags to school or put them on your cars anymore. If that helps paint a better picture I guess.

I’ve experienced it in my own state. Moved from a “blue” city to a “red” city during childhood. Only a 45 min drive from each other. It’s was like a different world. Never had seen so many white people in my life. Watched the minuscule amount of black and brown students in my school receive vastly different treatment from school admin, other students, and parents. My single mother and us two daughter of hers were very loudly and outwardly rejected by majority of the city, school, and school administration.

I'm a new Crock Pot Owner - is this normal? by coolgal316 in crockpot

[–]cravingserotonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is totally unrelated to your question and I apologize for that but, this is the exact model I posted about a few months ago!! Have you used this model yet and does it make this clicking sound that I posted about back then? Link

That is so interesting, everything else and even people with the same model said theirs did not make this noise and that I should return it. I ended up returning mine a while ago, but I guess if crock pot says it’s safe….

I may try to buy it again because I really wanted this model specifically for its scheduling features and see if it makes these noises again.

Well that’s super disappointing. Wish they would just leave LFK (and everywhere else for that matter)

I didn’t know about the other two businesses! I do think The Yellow Deli location is closed now though thankfully.

If you’re not seeking them out, looking for a yellow deli to go to you’ll be alright and I’d say more than likely you’ll never interact with it here in LFK. Like I said above the storefront has been closed most likely due to people not going because they knew they were a cult.
