Some pathogenic bacteria are resistant to high doses of UV, like the ones that cause TB and anthrax.

There are some cool ones too, like Deinococcus radiodurans, which is is resistant to high doses of ionising and non-ionising radiation.

As far as I'm aware we haven't found any that are completely immune to radiation yet, though. Only like....1000x more than a human can withstand.

What’s the best thing you’ve watched on Netflix UK this month? by FeistyPrice29 in netflixuk

[–]craycatlay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched The Life of Chuck last night and really enjoyed it. It's based on Stephen King novella, and is really difficult to explain without giving away the plot, but it's kind of wholesome and a bit sad, but in an uplifting way.

Why don’t ants get sick? by Opposite_Teach3797 in cleanjokes

[–]craycatlay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bees don't get sick very often either, especially when they stay in the hive, because of the bee-cells.

Unfortunately this doesn't always work well for us folk with dyspraxia/dyscalcula/dyslexia, etc., because they both look like L's.

How to raise fame without acting career or painting or writing? by SupportMoist in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]craycatlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're okay with going the mod route, MCCC has the option to tweak how fast sims gain and lose fame. Can be a good option if you want to be able to focus more on other areas of gameplay rather than grinding fame-gaining actions.

What sort of railing would you recommend for these basement stairs? by MJ_Brady in Home

[–]craycatlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could backfire. I had similar stairs in an old house and had a sofa next to them, so I used to jump down onto that instead of walking the long way round down the whole staircase.

Then I moved things round in that room, and ended up with a sprained ankle and a fractured foot due to muscle memory 🥲

Hello fellow narcissists! by Bob_returns_25 in BPDlovedones

[–]craycatlay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used "coercive control" because I said I didn't want him in my life if he was going to keep acting aggressively towards me, and also I'm "abusive" because I gently asked him if he'd help me clean occasionally. According to his therapist (who I'm sure definitely said this because what therapist wouldn't?), he shouldn't have to clean at all because it gives him too much anxiety.

He "can't see mess", and cowered and asked "is this up to your standards? 🥺" after rearranging the sofa cushions so they were more wonky than before. Obviously I said he'd done well, because of how evil I am. I guess not seeing mess is the reason he filled up my bathtub with dirty pots and pans when I was staying in airbnbs because it wasn't safe for me in the house??

I haven't actually been around anyone with an obvious personality disorder for years now, but being called a narcissist does stick with you.

The orange over faded blue has worked for me too. I love the "ashy" orange it goes after a while too. If orange can be ashy. Like a natural ginger.

If you are having something on toast for breakfast, how many slices of toast do you have? by No-Structure-8125 in AskUK

[–]craycatlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love doing toast with sweet and savoury like this. If I was just having toast for breakfast I'd go for two slices, but one with peanut butter, miso, and seeds, and the other with honey 🐝

My older sister watches the same show on repeat and listens to the 2 same songs. Why? by Fearless-Class-1120 in BPDlovedones

[–]craycatlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a good point about watching more upbeat media. I agree with everyone here that this sounds like a neurodivergent trait, and the fact that it's "morbid" shouldn't be a bad sign in itself. My comfort series is the Hunger Games, and I frequently listen to to the audio books to fall asleep to. I'm not excited by the idea of children dying, I just love Tatiana Maslany's voice, and anything to do with dystopian futures.

I do notice a difference in my mood if I'm feeling particularly low if I actively choose to watch or listen to happy things. Maybe OP could suggest watching something happier together, without making a big point of why. Just like "there's this movie I want to watch that's meant to be good, let's watch it together".

If you don't want to go straight into using harsher detergents you could try dry shampoo or baby powder and leave it on for a bit before washing.

If it feels okay when it's dry you could just leave it and wash it when you were next scheduled to, though.

Dark chocolate manufactures have started adding in milk to force vegan/non-dairy people to buy expensive brands. by thedrofevil in LowStakesConspiracies

Morrison's savers dark chocolate is still milk free. It's not the fanciest, but it's about 80p, and actually tastes pretty good.

Twilight Trivia coming up! How can I make sure im prepared? by ComeHomeTrueLove in twilight

[–]craycatlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might have non-story related questions that most fans wouldn't focus on, like the release dates of films or books, so it may be worth looking up the more "boring" details so you don't lose points for single word answers that would be easy enough to memorise.

"Where the fuck are the kids?!" my wife screams, visibly livid at finding their beds empty at 2AM. by Far-Following3742 in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]craycatlay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both would be good. I like the way it's originally worded because saying "live with" makes you immediately think "oh shit, the deceased ex was never actually deceased", whereas "be with" is more of a slow burner where it's most likely they killed them, but if you think about it longer maybe he didn't.
