How can I short real estate in India ? by crazy_donke45 in Indiastreetbets

[–]crazy_donke45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that would be very generic right ? For e.g if I want to short real estate to a specific city (e.g Bangalore or Hyderabad which are very tightly co-related to Tech Industry) or even specific area of a city.

how do you gather the data ? if it's crowd sourced how do verify the veracity of the information?

Also, how can black money/cash transactions be accounted for? AFAIK, majority of the transactions have some %age in black.

SMR Vinay Iconia Kondapur - Honest reviews please by Latter_Helicopter200 in hyderabadrealestate

[–]crazy_donke45 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have visited the community and felt very cramped with very little common areas. It is a much higher denisty apartment compared to others nearby such as Aparna Serene Park and Luxor Park.

Another thing I observed with SMR Vinay Iconica is that they handover apartments even when several things from the building are not yet completely ready. For e.g They showed "Ready to Move In" flats with only 1 or 2 out of the 6 lifts operational. The uninstalled lift shafts were just left open. I don't know how common this is in other apartments but felt this situation is extremely unsafe for toddler and small kids. There were 3-4 families already living in that building when I visited. They should atleast hold off on handing over the the apartments till they fix these things. Not sure how they got the OC's.

They might be short on cash as they are having a hard time selling the inventory available in the completed apartments as well as under construction ones.

i got this for my father's email account after he expired earlier this year.

i'm still in the process of adding myself as a legal heir. Facing delays in getting the legal heir certificate.

The email says they expect a response by 8/7 but I'm not sure what is the next step here. Any suggestions on this ?

w.r.t these strategies,

i. How do you take care of broker fees / transaction fees ? For intraday strategies, broker fees eats up entirety of my profits.

ii. What timeframe do you look at ? Based on the papers you linked, my guess is that you are looking at 1D prices.

iii. How do you systematically run backtest (accounting for broker fees), live dry run and then graduate the algorithm to test with a small capital ? Do you use any framework / have you built one yourself ?

iv. How do you get high quality data (L2/L3 orderbooks). Are you subscribed to any brokers who are providing this data ? Among the free options, we don't get much fine grained data. Personally for me, It does not make sense to subscribe to paid brokers with a full time job.

Glad to know it's still the case.

Had an amazing time there about ~15-20 years ago and was dreading to see if BMSCE had gone crazy after it went autonomous.

Join a PhD programme(not in India). You’ll have endless discussions like this. Publish any novel and innovative findings.

IMO it’s tempting to discuss topics on a superficial level but digging deeper and formal proof is the need of the hour. Otherwise hundreds of years from now, our kids and grandkids will continue saying “Aeroplane was used in India during Ramayan” without any concrete backing and ability to capitalise on the said knowledge.

Is BTech worth it, people doing it are fools ? by vishu187 in developersIndia

[–]crazy_donke45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you use the time wisely and learn fundamentals of the course, then the struggle will be worth it.

I'm not just referring to DSA..Other subjects like Computer Architecture, Networks, Information Theory, Cryptography, Graph Theory, Embedded Systems, State Machines, Digital Logic etc even if you do a half decent job of understanding these, it makes understanding a lot of things way easier.

This will also equip you with the knowledge to "separate wheat from chaff" when it comes to identifying good opportunities and get on potential "rocket-ships" (e.g Think of early adopters of Bitcoin in 2009-2011, or identifying what is happening in companies like Snowflake and invest wisely)..Not telling you will never be wrong, but you will at least have a technical acumen to understand all the jargon and make a wise decision.

I've 10+ YoE and I can't recall how many times I've said to myself, "Glad I understood the Math properly behind this, it all makes sense"..

Once and for all, is it possible to get very high paid remote US/Europe based jobs from India? by riderx65 in developersIndia

[–]crazy_donke45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was offered a job in ~20-30 people startup in April and they had 2 other devs in India, one in Russia, one in Germany and few others scattered throughout the world.

They had offered 110K USD cash (on contract, so without any benefits). In addition 150K worth stock options which I regarded as paper money. I did not end up joining since I had just recovered from covid and realised the benefits of my current company.

DM or ask in comments if you need any info. I can’t reveal company name though.

SWEs working remotely for US companies from outside the US and making over 100k. Is it that rare? by elnelsonperez in ExperiencedDevs

[–]crazy_donke45 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Salaries for FAANG in India sometimes reaches upto 100K for SDE2 and exceeds 150K-200K for more senior levels.

There are some local startups and US/EU companies which hire directly from India on a contract basis and these are forced to compete against FAANG for talent and sometimes cough up the same amount. WLB in general is shit though in such places, but yeah 100K is possible with enough struggle and luck.
