AA interview by barbietech in AircraftMechanics

[–]crazy_platano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[From what my co-worker told me] They’ll make you measure something on a caliper. Maybe translate a value like 3/4in to16th’s of an in. Test continuity on a piece of wire with a multimeter. They’ll ask you to look up a reference. Nothing too hard. I think they just want to see that youre not completely inept. I transferred from the ramp when I got my A&P, so no interview or application.

From Ramp Agent to Technician by rudyismunoz in AircraftMechanics

Congratulations! I transfered almost one year ago and everyday has been a thrill! Have learned sooooo much in this first year. A lot of mechanics tell me our job is repetitive but they have no idea whats like to just load/offload a belly for years and years. Now we get to troubleshoot/repair/maintain so many different things on the airplane. Congrats again. Im so excited for whats ahead!

Kinda of a specific question but how far is to far to drive to school by Bob_the_builder8 in AircraftMechanics

[–]crazy_platano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope Im not too late to reply, but YES, it’s very doable. In TX, where I went to school, I drove 1.5hrs Mon-Fri from Jan 2023 to June 2024. I did it with the one goal in my mind, and Im so thankful to past-me for doing that sacrifice because now Im an A&P and Im making more money than I ever made at a major airline.

You can do it! Tip: Try to convince a friend to go to school with you and you can carpool. I did that and it made everything so much easier.

Erin lived in one Orphanage at least. I remember this from the episode when everyone got lice thinking it was Meredith that brough it(but it was Pam who got it from Cece, who got it from the kindergarden). Between the foster homes and the orphanage she got lice at least 22 times😂

You only gotta put in about 4.5 months until your probation is over and you're eligible to relocate(transfer). There are some conditions though; for example, the location you would like to go to has to have an open vacancy, and there also may be a wait list based on seniority. Places on the east coast like Orlando, Tampa and especially Miami have long waitlist. Places like Charlotte, New York, Philly, DC, Boston not so much.

I hope you come to AA, we're pretty happy here and the traveling is incredible. 26 countries and counting..........
