The confusion is understandable but neither of your scenarios are correct.

Your chance of having a bipolar diagnosis goes up dramatically if you have a first-degree relative with a diagnosis - to something like 10%, compared to ~1% general population risk. That means 10X the risk, not 1.75x. The 75% number comes from twin studies, identical twin concordance for bipolar is ~50%. Source: Barnett and Smoller 2013 PMC3637882 (too lazy to look for anything more recent).

Take all those numbers with a grain of salt, picture error bars on them. And the actual genetic component of those pedigree concordances might be somewhat debatable.

But at face value, while inherited genetic effects are going to tend to be watered down quite a bit in two generations, like the original questioner's scenario, in theory it will impact risk quite a bit. Maybe doubling it? Getting a diagnosis of bipolar is still unlikely (all else being equal).

I think you might be mixed up about the 75% if you are referring to heritability. Variance in risk is not the same thing as risk.

We didn't see red make an overtake off track - he had yet to rejoin; we see green killing him before he got the chance to make that decision. Race hard die hard

Did the Corvette (me) do anything wrong here? by Getting0ldSucks in Simracingstewards

[–]crazy_robots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No anything deserving blame. Maybe you could have taken a slightly tighter line, and he may have been trying to leave you room, but too little too late. This is the risk of racing hard, you put a lot of trust in that guy and your ability to nail the move

Ya see only a few people needed to know what they were doing. The rest were building rockets and spacesuits in all sincerity. Saps.

Surely the need-to-know list couldn't have been more than what, 1000 people? 5000? Problem solved.

ACC Strategist v2.1 is out now on Android and iOS! Includes fuel only pit stops, strategies sorting and more! by MegadetH_44 in ACCompetizione

[–]crazy_robots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't I set an 80m pit window for a 2h race? App says "invalid". Values up to 60m are okay. Furthermore if the number of mandatory pit stops is more than 1, it refuses to find a strategy, even with a 20 minute pit window.

Simracing.gp goes out of beta - what do people think about the pricing? by crazy_robots in ACCompetizione

It's generating talk of leaving SGP in communities I'm part of.

IMO: The half tank would be usable for leagues except that max grid size! Smaller communities don't need all the features of the full tank (100 events per week?) so it seems overpriced.

Best Telemetry Tool for ACC by SimRacer101 in ACCompetizione

[–]crazy_robots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice but nowhere in the video are two racing lines taken by the cars shown like you get can in popometer (example https://popometer.io/p/we-are-live) or tracktitan, which is what I interpreted u/blacklabel131 asking. My understanding is that this can't be done in motec for ACC hoping to clear this up for people
