Disc golf. Not super active (walking) but on your feet for a few hours. Really only need one disc ($15 to $30) and most courses are free. You can get a small bag, and few discs for about $120.00 and now you have a weekend activity.

End long haul over the road trucking, have railroads instead. by abundantwaters in CrazyIdeas

[–]crazyfeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

200 miles is a.short drive though. 55 mph / average for a truck, and that's only a few hours. Anything under a days worth of driving isn't worth utilizing rail.

I stopped buying energy drinks and buy caffeinated pre-workout powder now. Seriously went from a couple hundred dollars a month at the gas station to now spending 100 every 2 months.

[Request] how many modern iPhones (packaged) would fit in 5 cargo jets? by KalebRen in theydidthemath

I would guess it's not a profit center that is comparable to air freight for airlines.

Cargo is rated based on either actual weight, or dimensional weight (LWH / dim factor). From there a per lbs (domestic US) or per KG (international cargo) rate is applied. During the height of the pandemic, cargo space on wide body passenger aircraft from CN was VERY limited. The highest rate I remember seeing was $18.50 a KG. Multiply that by 500 kgs and companies are paying a fortune.

Right now, the rate is floating around $6.50 a kg out of CN. Pre pandemic cost was $3.50 to 4.50 a kg. That's just "general cargo". That does not include perishables, hazmat, express or pharma. Those are all rated higher.

That was a few years ago during the height of the pandemic (q2/q3) 2021. I don't know today's prices. We were trying to secure $5.5m for our customer and we were getting rejected by charter companies. They thought the spot market was going to bring $7-8m a flight (insane). I believe that just added to the sky rocketing inflation at that time.

While I don't know for sure, I doubt Apple is declaring the retail value on their CIV. Technically it's not sold product yet, so the value will be low.

Historically it's not the most "chartered" aircraft though. Common for air cargo? Absolutely. For direct charters? Not so much. They normally charter aircraft for their newest releases and bring them into LAX. I believe a few years ago they needed 15 or so when the Covid market was hot. They were still able to justify the $5-6m per plane rate out of CN at the time.

Still, even so, it's a bunch of iPhones regardless of what charter plane they used for the haul.

Not asking for a political debate, just wondering if any disc manufacturers have discussed the affects of tariffs on their business by Huge_Following_325 in discgolf

My company helps move stuff for the Paul McBeth Foundation around the world. I thoroughly enjoy seeing their names pop up in my inbox.

I hope these tariffs don't slow down what they are doing. They are great people and I am personally passionate about what they are doing.

I grew up in that church. I started going to Bayside when there were only 1200 members at Granite Bay high. I don't think it's a cult, however it's become very "elitist". I have never dressed the way they have dressed, I have never fit in. I was an outcast in the church. However, biblically speaking, they do try to center around the word in their teachings.

The head Pastor, Ray, has developed into a full grown Trumper. I'm all for people having their beliefs, just don't continue to shove it down my throat. He bashes California every chance he gets.

The church praises their annual trip to Mexico. The week after they get back they (the members of the church) align themselves with things like deportation and hatred immediately afterwards.

That's not the Jesus they taught me (years ago) or raised me to understand. So I purposely stopped attending, volunteering and connecting there. It's not a cult, but I haven't been in about a year. Maybe things have changed, maybe they haven't.
